Get rechargeable li batteries
And a good smart battery charger 18650 cells are actually used in many battery packs Laptop and cordless tools have battery backs with many in each I buy flashlights that can use 18650 or two cr123 cells There are rechargeable cr123 cells also Remember don’t discharge a rechargeable li cell completely it damages it and it will have a very short life A protected cell has a small pcb on the negative end This will protect the cell from over discharge or over recharge but makes it a 1/8” longer and keeps it from use in some devices So if you notice the flashlight is not 100% brightness it is time to switch out the cell and it will not be damaged Run it down to the point it is yellow dem it is a damaged cell and will have a very short life now A quality cell and care and a smart charger a cell can last 500-1000 recharge cycles or more |

I have bought the Amazon basics branded cr123s and they work fine. Reasonable price.

I get mine from my electrical supplier, packs of 12 streamlight brand for around $23. (platt electric)

I just buy surefire batteries once a year. And I keep some in a small waterproof box in my go tote.

Are these rechargeable cr123s "safe and effective" and tested with results available for review? I've been burned....

Energizers at Sam's Club. 16-pack. The price shot up big-time a couple years ago, though.

I just grabbed a spare 5000mah 21700 and a 3500mah 18650 and a charger from Fenix.
currently, i have one spare 18650 for my handheld flashlight. but now ill have a spare 21700 for my other flashlight and ill have another 18650 to use for my rifle light. having 123's as backup is what ill do now. instead of swapping batteries all the time. thanks for this thread. |
|
Those things are bloody expensive. I make it a point to actively try and avoid buying products which use them. In the few situations I can not avoid it, like my ARLO wireless security cameras, I solder external wiring to the camera and use a li-ion external battery pack.
cr123's suck. |

Wait for a Black Friday deal next month. I always seem to find GREAT deals on Lithium batteries every year. Enough to get me through the next year.
|
|
|
Battery Junction around Black Friday to save shipping.
Really though, throw away those flashlights and get an 18650 or 21700 light. You can recharge the lights or some batteries from your car, cellphone, or laptop USB ports. Most lights will indicate battery voltage too. |
|
I remember years ago Wal-Mart had a limit of 2 because people were using lithium for drugs or some shit.

If you can wait until black friday, Battery Junction usually has a decent sale.

I usually buy the 10 or 20 pack of Surefire's on Amazon, from Amazon, not a 3rd party seller. No issues over many years, always fresh, I sense they sell enough of them that they don't sit in inventory.

For primaries I use battery junction. Have for 15 years.
For rechargeables I just buy from Orbtronic directly. I've been very happy with the quality and longevity of their batteries. |

Bump for more Black Friday deals.
Or is battery junky pretty much it. |
