Edit 8:57pm 4/4/14 - About an hour after I created this thread it seems the ATF has changed the language on the eforms page to:

Wonder if this is because they do in-fact plan to stop allowing Trusts... (aside from the fact they managed to have a worse site than obamacare.)

It was fun while it lasted. I didn't follow the NFA scene too hard and didn't even know it was a thing until a few months ago. It actually encouraged me to acquire NFA shit (I didn't, but I was thinking hard about SBSing a shotgun), but now it's gone, and once again the price, as well as the amount of work involved, makes me have no interest in NFA for the time being.

I've been trying to get an eForm filled out and the system is fucked.  Thanks for wasting my fucking time.  Should have done paper to begin with.

My Form 1 SBR took 92 days.  Yes, much too efficient to be tolerated by the .gov

God lord. The ATF can't "stop allowing Trusts".

Congress if it wishes could rewrite or amend the NFA Act. But the ATF can not.

This is like the Obamacare website ridiculousness.  We're not talking about a complicated transfer of information.  Type in a little info and upload some documents.  I have no idea why they couldn't get this right.

But can they require CELO signoff for the responsible party of a trust?

eForm had lots of issues anyways...a 2 MB file limit for uploading a trust?  Yeah, that works great...until you get one of the typical idiot lawyers who decided to draft someone's trust up into a 47-page mini-novel.  You're totally screwed then...

if everyone didnt use .doc, it would.

use RTF format - can be read by ANYTHING. Mac, PC, Linux, your phone, and file sizes are smaller.

I knew that site was a cluster as soon as I saw how frequently they were "restarting" it. Too bad the NSA isn't managing it.

Guess the new restart times email turned out to be an April Fool's joke:

Good afternoon:

You are in receipt of this email because you are a registered user of ATF eForms.  Please review the attached Urgent Notice relating to an important issue we are experiencing with the eForms system.

Reminder: In an attempt to improve the performance of eForms we are restarting the eForms system everyday at the following times (Eastern time).  During each restart eForms will be unavailable for 1 hour.
Restart times: 4:00 AM, 9:00 AM, NOON, 4:00 PM, 11:00 PM

They should offer a Point of Sale option. Any Class 3 FFL may be certified as a NFA Examiner at the FFLs expense, FFL could charge up to a $50 surcharge per transaction.

FFLs make a bunch of money, ATF makes a bunch of money, and a shitload more NFA in citizen's hands. WIN-WIN-WIN.

Well, a JPEG for each page would individually be less than 2 MB, but eff that.

That said, my slimmed-down scanned trust is 13 pages, only 0.636 MB, and it's still legible in a PDF. The hi-res scan is 9 MB.
