Way cheaper version of the FN5.7
|
|
I really don't understand what demographic this is aimed at.
|
|
I don't want another caliber but this may push me right over that edge.

Photoshop, right? ETA: I’d be interested in one. View Quote No, that's legit...the question is why, and why now? 5.7 hasn't been a cool kid caliber in a decade. Ruger isn't usually this out of touch. |
|
Cuz it’s probably cheaper than the FN...

Someone in another thread (I think it was the Glock .22 thread) said he had knowledge about one of the big manufacturers making a gun chambered in 5.7.

If this thing is real and priced under $500 I'll be in.
The last few years have been lackluster with new gun releases and this year SHOT show is still a month away and we've already got the HK SP5, Colt Python, and now possibly this. |

It would be pretty cool to fire 5.7 out of a nice little carbine. The action should support it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

can someone pull that photo from your cache and post it? They took it down

Well, I’d be interested. Especially if this meant that the ammo would become more widely available (as I doubt Ruger would make a pistol for unusual ammo unless they knew that would change). Nothing wrong with the 5.7 round that a cheaper (But solid) platform and ammo couldn’t fix.

Way cheaper version of the FN5.7 But my pet peeve... You lose 4 rounds, a quarter of the advantage of going to 5.7 over 9mm. 16 round mag in a full sized gun where competing 9mm variants carry 17 or 18? WTF, Ruger? |
|
Because the FN does so well.......
But ZOMG! It's an AR15 round in a pistol!,,,,!! |
|

A very fast perusal of the interwebs says this cartridge is a bear to handload, though I have to wonder if the Ruger chamber won't have the reverse taper cut of the FN chambers, referenced in one article. At least the 40 grain .223 bullets are easy to find. I would only buy this if I could reload for it, as factory ammo ain't cheap. MidwayUSA carries exactly two loads, the 40 gr FN/Hornaday VMAX load for 53 cents a round, or the Fed American Eagle 40 gr FMJ for 46 cents a round.
Note it doesn't have the FN 20 round mag, either...but it is tempting just because it's so odd. Maybe that is what Ruger is going for, the odd. |

Like the looks of it.
I'm not really a fan of my FN five-seven. Only have it because I have a SBR'd PS90 that I love so I keep the matching handgun. I'd prob sell that and get this instead if it's legit. |

The only thing that could make the FiveseveN pistol less appealing is if it was made by Ruger

This, just please no manual safety. I hate how most of Ruger’s handguns have manual safeties. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Bill Ruger is rolling over in his grave.
I will buy one just for that |
