Yep. I've never looked so forward to something so terrible in my life.
Remember it well. Here, it was served alongside tossed salad and strawberry shortcake.
I used to have bricks of rectangular pizza in my freezer for when I'd come home from the bars in the mid-2000s. That was so good when you were drunk and ready to pass out...
The only time I have had pizza and ketchup was square school pizza. Even the pepperonis were square.
The first time I tried MRE pizza took me straight back to that shit in school in the 80's-90's.
It was garbage, you knew it was garbage, but it was exactly what you were expecting which makes it good. Plus it wasn't that hateful slop they served other days
I showed this to our kids this morning and the said it’s changed.

Can't remember if this was them. There was a thread on them a couple of months ago. Someone will come along to help. Here |
There's a bar near me that has it on their appetizer menu. You can get a burger made out of it too!

One of the old school lunch ladies posted the recipe a while back. It was pretty simple

Quoted: School pizza in the late 70’s / early 80’s View Quote They still had it in the early '90s at my school. They served it at least 3 times a week. |

We called it cardboard then, and looked forward to it. The grease made it go down easy.

Mmmmmmm, sheet pan pizza. So gross, but so delicious.
Almost as good as chicken nugget and buttered noodle day. |
My mom always insisted on packing my lunch for school, so I very rarely did get to enjoy cafeteria pizza.
We did get these every once in a while, which I recall is a good approximation of school pizza. Attached File |

It changed?
Our pizza looked like that for my entire school career, I graduated in 2013 Flavors were Pepperoni, cheese, and sausage. IIRC I think there was a breakfast pizza as well. |
My grandma occasionally filled in at the cafeteria when I was in primary school & she would order boxes of it for us to eat at home.
Elio's isn't the same despite the visual similarity. I bet GD won't even be able to discuss a damn slice of pizza without a purse being swung. |

I rarely had school cafeteria food also. But I sure do remember the doughy rolls and chicken fried steak. This was suburban Atlanta school system. |

Wife asked me the other night what I wanted for dinner.
Rectangle pizza and corn says I I got fish sticks and corn |
I used to love that stuff until they switched to low fat cheese and then burnt it because the cheese wouldn’t melt.
They also had fiestada which was hexagon or octagon shaped Mexican pizza. I haven’t thought about that in a long time. Thanks OP. |

I remember it well.
It was a super rare treat at our school! We got it like 3 times a year. I'm envious of all you folks that were served square pizza at least once a week! |
they served it 4 days a week in high school
I have never been able to find anything that tasted the same no matter how alike it looked |
I remember that pizza quite well from the early 70s and 80s with very fond delicious memories. Here is a pic of a retro pizza from back in those old days.
This nice lady makes a good looking copy of that school pizza. Click the link for her recipe. https://ovenandapron.com/2014/09/28/old-school-rectangle-pizza/ |

We didn't have pizza in school in the 70's. My thing was waiting until lunch closed and the cheese sammich's were on sale for cheap. I'd buy two.
We did that Elliot’s type pizza. It was known on the menu as “Pizza Square.”
They’d also do the upside hamburger bun, with sauce and a slice of cheese. “Pizza roll.” |
Was the Friday lunch at our school.
Thankfully we were allowed to go off campus for lunch after freshmen year so we didn’t have to eat all the other slop. |
