I have always had them together . Same with fish . Was talking to some people the other day that never had hush puppies . Have you , or is this a more Southern thing ? Also fried okra , they were disgusted by the idea . Pole added for entertainment on this Saturday night .

I probably wouldn’t trust someone who said they’ve never ate hush puppies.

It's a southern thing but I have definitely made them myself up here.
More than once I've fried up some Cajun seasoned catfish, hushpuppies, and okra served with coleslaw and sweet tea. |
|
Very much a Southern thing.
Yankee boy here, lived in NY, CT and MI. Hush puppies are hard to come by in these parts. |

Fried catfish and hush puppies are the preferred pairing in my family, but yeah, legit.

Nobody got time for that crap. Give me a Diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper and make it fast. I'm in a gotdam hurry.

I’m a Yankee living in the south, and the fried food is delicious. It definitely takes some will power to not over indulge. I don’t want to gain any weight living here.

First time I'm hearing of hush puppies being served with chicken..
I've had fried okra here/there...wasn't all that. Maybe it's a failure of who cooked it. |
|
Probably a little odd to see them with chicken if the place doesn't also serve fried fish.
Would order either way. Luby's fried okra always HELD a place in my heart. Catfish King's hushpuppies were a-typical, but good. Jalapeno hushpuppies FTW!!! |
|
I"ll make hush puppies from scratch every so often.
Only with fried fish though, never have with chicken. |

My grandma always made them for Sunday dinner when she fried chicken . Chicken Express sells chicken and fish here and I always get the hush puppies and extra tartar sauce . They do charge for extra sauce , it ain’t 3 for free here ! |

Love hush puppies and fried chicken but I’ve never had them together.

I'm not sure I've ever had them with fried chicken, unless you stretch that to include what they sell at Long John Silver's anyways. But I expect them at any seafood restaurant and most BBQ joints. The Cook Out drive thru chain has surprisingly good hush puppies as well.

Hush puppies are usually served with fish. But I'd eat them with chicken if you put it in front of me.
You can keep the okra. |
|
I don’t think I have ever had hush puppies with chicken. It’s always been okra with chicken or beef. Hush puppies were always with catfish. However I would be happy with either whatever the meal is. I’m a fat

Good fried chicken is one of the true culinary delights in this world. That being said, hush puppies are fucking shit and okra in any form is a culinary affront and an abomination unto all that is sensible in the world. I would go so far as to say that anyone who eats and enjoys any type of cooked okra is mentally deficient and a pox upon humanity.

Lots of times we’ll fry hush puppies, okra, jalapeno strips, and squash with our fish and coleslaw. Usually spotted sea trout.

I love fried chicken, but as a Chinese guy who grew up on the pacific rim, I have no idea what hush puppies are.

I've been eating hush puppies since I was in diapers in Minnesota and South Dakota. I don't get them as often as I'd like.
I didn't have Okra until I was in my 30's and went to Oklahoma. I was hooked instantly. |

Fried Okra, as a kid I would eat all the breading off the Okra and leave the nasty plant behind. It would frustrate the hell out of my parents when they were trying to get me to eat my veggies.

Sure, but usually with fish, not chicken. With chicken it's usually buttermilk biscuits. That being said, I think chicken and hushpuppies would go well together.

Fried Chicken, okra, hush puppies, coleslaw & potato salad ??

Oyster Bar a couple of miles down US98 has the best hushpuppies. Excellent sweet counterpoint to the oysters.
