I haven't had a suit since I started buying my own clothes. I wear a shirt with a collar for church and what not. I own a tie but I don't know where it's at. I'm firmly in the t shirt and jeans category daily.
I've always worked blue collar and trades jobs so it's not an issue. A coworker of mine went back to school later in life. One of the big plusses for him was his new path in life was going to require him to dress up for work. For my fellow non suit guys. What do you do for a living? |

I made sales calls in shorts and flip flops. My customers KNEW that my firm was hands down the BEST deal in my industry. They KNEW I owned it and that my answers to questions were ALWAYS correct. They were willing to PAY for PERFORMANCE.

I mean, if Zelenskyyy doesn't need one for formal interviews and presidential visitations, do we really need one?
There are no suit stores in my area. The best you can cobble together locally is business casual. It is what it is, man.

I wore a uniform for much of my career but since I worked on the west coast in my civilian career. No suit as an IT network security management specialist and later system analyst.
Even as a department head I never wore a suit. I loathed going to our headquarters component in Maryland where suits were worn. I've been retired for three years now and haven't worn pants but a handful of times since. |
I was plant maintenance but am now retired and live in Florida. Shorts a gawdy Hawaiin shirt for all occasions.

I own a couple businesses and I don't own a suit. Hell I don't wear dress clothes. I signed the biggest deal of life wearing a t shirt, Dickies, and a pair of chucks.
Don't want to work with me because of my comfortable attire? Fuck off, somebody else will gladly work with me. Attached File |

Retired.
I own a couple but have not worn one in years. Probably on a cruise in 2008 worn at the Captains table for dinner. |
I have a suit somewhere for a wedding i attended (not my wedding ), it’s only been worn the one time…
I do automotive electrical design, but I do it from home, wearing whatever I want. If I go in for something, khakis and a polo |
Blue collar before I got retired.
Own one suit I bought at the big box suit store to get married in 86. Can't tie a tie. The one I own somebody else had to tie for me and I've never seen the need to unknot it. |
The thing about suits for me is that I only need one every couple of years.
Sure, I've put on a two year old suit when it was a surprise. I usually buy one if I have enough warning though. It just looks less like... I'm wearing a two year old suit. |
dressing up is a plus? fuck that noise
i own a suit because i had to be in a fancy wedding once. but i didn't pay for it and haven't worn it again so i don't think it should count against me i make sure that people can warm water, their houses and their food, mostly |

I wear scrubs for work.
It's good to have a suit for weddings and funerals, and a few sport coats to dress things up. Get one custom fitted and you'll feel more like wearing it. |
Men look so nice in a suit but they are unpractical af. I clicked on this for ideas for our upcoming cruise. There's one night for formal dinner. There's a weight limit for luggage and my husband's suit will take up half of the weight.

Truck driver but I use to wear suits to church until my house burned in 2018. Since then long sleeves with a tie.
Auto mechanic, no suit(s), just jeans and a polo when I'm not in uniform.
Retired now, but I never owned a suit in my life. The only time I have ever worn a tie was in my Army dress uniform. I don't see any reason to ever wear a suit unless it is a wedding I am in and then I will just rent one.
I always worked in heavy industry. Ties were frowned upon around moving/rotating equipment.
I did retail sales for a few years right after HS. Jacket was optional but dress shoes/slacks/button up and tie were not. I wore the jacket most all the time.
Between work and church I was virtually always in a suit except for my days off. Been doing blue collar for the last 15yrs and don't own any part of a suit. Most churches nowadays are super casual so it's not a big deal. |
Auto mechanic, I own dress pants and shirts with ties. I have a suit from 20 plus years ago.

Manufacturing engineering manager.
Jeans and a button up plaid shirt or polo. Depending on weather, it is a short or long sleeve. I have a suit, wore once to a wedding. Probably have a few ties. I work in agricultural equipment manufacturing. I'm generally a bit over dressed as it is. The mechanical engineering manager is usually in a hoody |
15 years of weld/fab/machining, now I tell other people what to do in the same shop.
I just learned in another thread though that this means my life and career have failed so *shrug*. |

i am a retired Engineering Director. Wore a suit or coat to work for more than a couple of decades.
When I retired in 2003 I probably had 10 or 12 suits and several coats. Nowadays I have one blue blazer. No suits. Living in Florida there is no need to have a suit except for a really special occasion. Like last year at a funeral for a family member. I regretted not having a suit then. |

It's hanging next to my powdered wig collection.
I also lucked out that the sun came back on the 8th |

I still have one but I worn it since my grandmother's funeral more than a decade ago.

Corporate Finance. You're not wearing a suit until you get into the $500k salary range. My manager is about there and he still wears hoodies to the office with some regularity.
I wear scrubs at work which are as comfy as pajamas. The only time I suit up is for our annual Kentucky Derby party.
I work from home. I'd like to have a suit, but I can't justify the expense when my wife isn't interested in going places and doing things that require one.
I do have a couple of blazers that I can wear for a little dressier occasions, but that's it. I might need to get a couple more next time I'm out shopping around, but I guess I'm a really popular size because they always have stuff that's too big or too small, and I'm not paying to have a stupid department store blazer tailored. |
Land Surveyor , wore a suit to moms funeral, I’ll never put that on again , ever .
