interesting concept, but, is there any way to reduce the size of the concussion reducer, cause that looks ginormous.

As for how this compares to the Brakesheild, I believe that they claimed in another thread that the ports on the unit help maintain rearward-recoil reduction of the brake. I haven't tried either, but without the ports, too much of the blast was supposedly directed forward, defeating some of the effectiveness of the brake. |

Now that your carrying ferfrans stuff, please sell their rate reducing m16 bolt carriers. They are not available anywhere and would sell well to those with m16s.

Nice. This is on my short list. I don't make any friends at the range when I have my SBR out.
|
|
Oh man I need one of these on my new rig.....
Time to find my stash cash... |

Hello,
How much clearance between the rail and the device do we need? To be more exact...can I run this on 10.3 barrel with 9.5 rail or an 11.5 barrel with a 10.75 rail? Thanks Green.

Are there any plans for a QD suppressor that can mount to the brake? If so, that would be the biggest advantage of the QD shroud, for use when the suppressor is off.
|
|
It seems to be a good product but unless you're in the military or a contractor there's no reason to waste your money on it.
|
|

I've been posting about wanting something like this for years (and I'm not an operator).
MB for maximizing control and recoil reduction when at the range, but a shroud to project noise and blast forward for HD and shooting close to others at a carbine class). 4oz is a bit heavy for a brake, but it probably is more rugged to be a solid attachment place. I wish all brakes offered a QD shroud like this...some could focus, like this one on recoil reduction, some could turn it into a flash hider. |
|
how strong is the shroud brake interface....incase you dropped it?

Oh please my 7.5 ARP with Kx3 has barely any recoil, and the noise is mostly sent forward, doesn't sound any louder than a std AR. |

Most of you on this site post like your special forces. I'm just saying theres nothing wrong with collecting and loving weapon systems but how about not standing that close to the muzzle.

No I have not. My job is not with weapons but there isn't a civilian scenario where this comes in handy. I don't have to clear a room everyday. It's a neat toy. When I build a rifle I have a purpose for what goes on it.

I bought a KX3, which is similar to this thing in concept, because I like my fillings to stay in place when shooting my SBR. When shooting CQ matches, there are walls and barrels, and there is usually a range officer with the timer right beside or behind you. A "civilian scenario" doesn't usually require an AR-15 either, yet here we are. You can be a fudd if you want to, you sound a bit like one. The other guys can buy whatever expensive farkles they want to hang on their boutique rifles. You won't get along well with people on a site like this going around saying "You don't need that" |

Muzzle brakes exacerbate this effect. The outer "shell" is designed to reduce the muzzle blast esp. to the sides of the weapon without disabling the muzzle brake effect. Google "SBR fireball" you can see some huge fireballs where the blast consumes the front of handguard. Get your hand too close to the muzzle you might take some damage. |

Off to blow up your shooting neighbors and on when I'm sweeping tight quarters. Just a heads up, it is HEAVIER with the shroud on, a lot heavier. Balances nicely with a 10.3 tho This is my home defense setup in progress and the CRD def has civilian application for that purpose View Quote I still want to know if the intent was to have a QD suppressor to mount on the same brake, because that would make sense. |

i spoke with ferdi and i think i remember him mentioning that they have a suppressor or are making one. I would assume it would attach to the same brake

How is the recoil mitigation, both with, and without the shroud? I am setting up a rifle for use in "patrol rifle" matches, and some of them frown on full-on brakes. For reference, my other match rifle uses a Bennie Cooley brake (if you are familiar with it). |

For reference, my other match rifle uses a Bennie Cooley brake (if you are familiar with it). It is very good at reducing the recoil without the reduction device. With it on, there is a noticable addition of a rearward impulse, but a huge decrease in sound. It is less concussive than my 16 in rifle with a griffin flash comp II. |

View Quote Wow, I have to say that is one of the neatest pictures I have ever seen. I agree with you RDTCU, this would make a great alternative to a suppressor that uses the same mount in scenario's where length (or lack thereof) takes paramount over noise discipline. Neat product. |

10.4 ounces?!
Holy hell... that's like sticking a full can of beer on the end of your rifle. That's some heavy-ass stuff. |
|
Any plans for a 30 cal CRD? I would like to put one on my 300 blk pistol.
operator.... |

Ugh. I just spent $400 in muzzle brakes getting all my barrels to fit the same SAS can.
I would be all over these outer shrouds for 3gun if they worked and they could fit onto a supressor mount. Though, even if they did I think a bunch of other companies cans would get made ahead of mine. Also, I just realized that the dimensions would probably bump me into Open Division, in which case I would just use my supressor because I'm coming in dead last anyway. |
