I would like to do my first kit build. I have 2 Ak47's so I'd like to do a '74. I am looking for pretty much the cheapest build I can do.

I do not really want to have to wheel and deal any parts.

There is not a big difference in price between an AK and AKS kit. Selling the folder will recoup a lot of funds and keep your build as cheap as possible like you mentioned. 74's are simply not cheap builds. Good luck.

I was thinking a Tantal. Those kits aren't too pricey. I was just wondering if there was a dealer that had another kit that was cheaper or had maybe non matching number kits they'd let go cheap.

I think all the vendors are sold out of tantals so best bet is the EE for one as far as non matching ORF has the sidefolders with non matching for like 230 then like socandy said sell the folder then you would be in it way less than 300 joebud is right I dont think 74 are a cheap build

Ha Ha....that was my thinking also....one problem...after laying it all out on the floor to get an idea of what it would look like there was no way in hell that I wasnt gonna build it as a folder. Still for $229 + shipping thats a heck of a deal for a great rifle. The project is now under constructionHere http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/7001/aksu2os.jpg

i had a tantal kit, but sold it to get a bulgy '74 sidefolder from ORF instead. it's not as long as a tantal, and (at least for me) therefore not as awkward to handle.
