Purchased from SS: 3/13/16
Check cashed: 7/22/216 Approval: ? Stamp: ? I left out info in the middle on purpose, since I don't want to create any confusion, my local SOT went out of biz, and there was a lot of confusion. I've called twice and have been reassured my check was cashed July 22 and Pending. I called this morning and the lady said I could be looking at June. Looks like 7/22 is the logjam. |

Sorry, I probably said that wrong. The initial local gun shop went out of biz, so apprently they requested a refund from ATF and SS had to step in and resubmit and send to another local store. I got different answers from everyone involved, and I'm new to the process, so I'm not entirely sure. The ATF did confirm refund was submitted and another check was cashed. I think what really screwed it up, was the initial local store, not telling SS and myself they were going under until the last minute.

Form 4 Mailed 5/13/16 Pending unknown Approved 3/13/17 Stamp received 4/20/17. 1 month and one week for my stamp to get mailed and received. I am now out of the NFA game for a while even with HPA passing. 2 form 1 cans, 3 rimfire cans, 3 SBRs. All within 2 years. The wait times are unreasonable and so is the tax stamp. I'll be buying guns and ammo along with NVG and armor before I do anything else NFA barring dramatic price decreases and short waits. And since I am finally done waiting on them, FATF. |

What's up with all these reports of stamps taking a month to get to dealers after being approved?
Small sample size but we've gotten 10-12 stamps for various customers over the past two weeks and every single one of them has a postmark date within 2-4 days of the approval date. |
Every time I got an APPROVAL the Form was mailed about two weeks later.
It isn't hard to imagine longer delays. My Last Form 4 the APPROVAL date was stamped August 11 with a Postmark of August 24. Two weeks from Approval to mailing. About 158 Total Days from Purchase to Reception of Stamped Form 4 |

I just got word from a friend that his 7/6 pending was approved on 4/19.
It it was a trust transfer. With that I think I may call today. I wasn't gonna call on this one because I have plenty to play with but it's been 9 1/2 months. ETA. still pending. She said they are predicting July to take several months to get through. Although their recording still says 8 months |

I have a question and did not know of any one better to ask.
I got a call from my dealer telling me that my can (SIG SRD762TI-QD) had arrived and was ready for pick up. Once I arrived at the dealers I noticed that my model number and caliber on my actual tax stamp form had been whited out and hand wrote in pen SIG SRD556TI-QD in the model number box and 5.56 in the caliber box. I had my copy of the paper work which showed the correct information of the can that I ordered which was the SRD762TI-QD (7.62 Caliber). I even had my copy of the store receipt that showed SRD762TI-QD. The serial number on my form 4 matches the 5.56 can that they had sitting out for me. So it looks like my dealer sent in my form 4 with the incorrect model and caliber for a can of a different caliber altogether. The guy that filled out my paperwork was not in at the time and there was not anyone there the know exactly what to do. I left the can there and am going back to the shop tomorrow. My head is spinning and I am honestly sick to my stomach right now. So thought I would get some comforting or horrible news from you guys. Does any one know if there is a process to fix this issue? If I am going to have to refile? Am going to be stuck with a can that I do not need? The bad thing is that I built a 300 Blackout and SBR'd it for this can. I also now own 4 SIG QD mounts for the 762 style can (Yeah it is not the same mount for a 556 and 762) Any insight would help good or bad. Thank you everyone!!! |

I think that if the screw up is on the BATFE end, then a phone call to them will get it squared away in short order (they are or were real good about that). If the mistake was by your FFL/SOT then Lucy has some 'splaining to do. That's explaining, not BSing.

Yes my store receipt from my card swipe says SRD762TIQD as well as my form 4 with the stamp on it. The store receipt does not have a serial number on it. The only thing on any of my paperwork that is tied to the 556 can is the serial number on the form 4. I ordered the 762 can but the dealer filed my form 4 with a 556 can serial number. Then when my stamp arrived he whited out and hand wrote 7.62 in the caliber section and SRD556TIQD in the model number. So i guess it matches now. Also was not sure if it is even a legal document being it is whited out.
What serial number is written on the stamp itself?
The serial number that is on the stamp is for the SRD556TIQD. Which is not he the can I ordered.
The model number and caliber of the can is whited out and hand written in to match the information of the 556 can. |
It sounds like the shop screwed up and the form 4 will have to be canceled. They would need to resubmit paperwork for the correct can. Whiteout also isn't going to fly on the tax form.
