Have a Sub 2000 on the way...gonna can it with an octane 45 HD.... what subsonic ammo are you guys having luck with?
|
|
You will be so happy
this stuff is really good. quiet as a nun and shoots straight. I fun a Octane 45 hd on my m&p9c. got to love the storm lake barrel. |
|
I recently got a case of these.
http://www.targetsportsusa.com/speer-lawman-9mm-luger-ammo-147-grain-tmj-53620-p-930.aspx I've shot a few boxes so far, no complaints. |

For just plinking/playing, federal 147 hi-shok & fmj-fp both, winchester-usa 147 truncated cone (fmj-fp), s&b 158 fmj; whatever I can get the best price on. For critters, either the 147 hi-shok or 147 silvertip. Only load I've really had bad experience with is the win/usa BEB. It functions mostly ok, but not 100% due to being underpowered.

|
I bought some 147 UMC and Magtech.
Both were quiet through my Trident. |
|
|
I've been using Federal American Eagle 124gr Suppressor ammo. I came across a case of it for a decent price a while back and its been surprisingly quiet.
|
|
158g PPU. To me with my Gemtech nothing else factory loaded has been near as quiet.
I know its had some bad reviews but I have almost 500 rds through my can with no issues. |
|
Fiocchi 158 gr. is what I shoot in my AR9.
It's even better when it goes on sale for about $10 a box. |
|
For those of you shooting 158 and heavier.... are they THAT much quieter than all the good old 147gr options?

I'm running 147gr Berrys over 3.4gr Titegroup. Have put a few thousand down range with no problems. Very quiet

The 147g Speer makes my ears ring sometimes especially on the first shot but the 158g never does and the 158 has a deeper tone with my can.

Even 115 with my VP9 and osprey 45 doesn't make my ears ring. The crack is just annoying so I put my ears back on after a magazine. But no ringing. |

I think the only time it makes my ears ring is when I shoot it in my backyard...maybe the sound bouncing off of things. I have only been to the range with it 2 times the rest in my backyard or parents house. |

I'm using Detroit Ammo Company.

View Quote I have not found them to be that much different thru my Trident 9 running on my P226 or my AR w/TROS 5" lugged bbl. w/the Trident. I don't need to buy sub-sonic 9mm when I can load it much cheaper. |
|
I tried some "Hush" 147 gr 9mm ammo from Freedom Munitions thru my Suppressed MPX. It's quiet and fairly accurate. No issue cycling at all.
|
|
I wasn't impressed with the 165 gr FM Hush as compared to their 147 gr standard load. It was slightly quieter, but the difference was only noticeable when loaded in the same magazine as the 147s. I found the Hush had cycling issues in my USP, but it might be fine in a PCC. Part of my issue was that unless my wrists were rock solid, it would stovepipe.

It didn't have a problem cycling my AR9 suppressed or unsuppressed, just wasn't completely satisfied with performance |

Just wanted to point out that Freedom Munition's Hush 147gr is only 20fps slower than their standard and much cheaper 147gr.
890fps vs 870fps They are both subsonic but HUSH costs around $90 more per 1000rd case. Is that really worth it? If not, I'd rather put the extra money towards more ammo instead of marketing. I just placed a new order for thier standard 147gr and will be doing some comparing shortly. If anyone has already done this... I'd love to hear about it. |

Any accuracy issues with the 158gr PPU subsonic stuff for those using an MPX?

I haven't compared the 145 reg vs Hush but have compared the 124gr vs 147gr and found that the POI on the 147 dropped about 3-4" at 50'. The sound difference between the two wasn't much different so I've continued with the 124's. Didn't have cycling issues with either. Tested on a MP5 and M&P 9 using a Gemtech Multimount |

Just an update but the Freedom Muntions new manufactured 147gr is garbage. Multible squibs before I finished the first two boxes... and Freedom is ignoring my emails about it. The HUSH ran flawless but I'm quickly losing respect for the company.
EDIT/UPDATE: Freedom finally responded with..... "We are very sorry for the issues you have experienced with our ammunition. We stand behind our ammunition and would like to make it right by you. I would like to bring the ammunition back and test it. I can either replace it or refund it which-ever you prefer. Here is the information I will need. How much ammunition is left over Date of incident Order # Lot # (will be on a sticker on the end of the box the bottom row of numbers) The head stamp information What type of ammunition (ex. 9mm 115 gr) New or remanufactured For the weapon used I will need the following: What type of weapon Was there powder residue in the chamber or barrel after the "failure"? Was there an audible noise when the trigger was pulled on the subsequent "failure"? Did you observe any push-ins? Were any of the components from the "failure" retained? Were there any function problems immediately preceding the "failure"? (F T Feed, FTF, FTC, FTE) Was there recoil variation or sound variation in the lot being fired? How far did the bullet travel into the barrel how many inches? What was the barrel length? Any pictures or video you have or can take will be very helpful." I'm glad they stand behind their ammunition but I have zero faith in their standard ammo. If I want working suppressor ammo from them.... I'll have to pay almost $100 more per case of HUSH. WTF. |

not trying to call you out, but what are you labeling as a squib? I have shot literally 10k plus rds of their pistol ammo one the past 2 years or so and not had one issue. I even had a case of the batch they recalled a few months ago, and shot it all just fine

There are plenty of people on this forum that have had problems with their ammo. Enough that I have passed up a few smoking deals. |

I couldn't care less about the 10k rounds you shot without issue. It has no bearing on my experience with it. |

I don't touch Freedom Munitions anymore. Had enough failures that it isn't worth the savings.

Winchester W Train & Defend - "Train" 147gr listed @ 950fps...
Seemed relatively quiet out of my G19, with a couple cracks mixed in, but not during all shooting sessions - some days it seemed louder, some days quieter. Couple shooting sessions I'd notice powder blowback on my face, sometimes not. Out of my 8" CMMG AR, it went supersonic every time (45 degrees, 71% humidity). I'm guessing it's a bit hotter than 950fps. Fiocchi 158 stayed subsonic and was much more quiet. |
|

|
I tried a box of priv 158 and Speer lawman 147 mixed in a mag and the difference was huge. Won't be buying more 147 Speer for subsonic use.
