Just picked up a used USGI stock at the gun show today, came with butt plate and everything for $55. I originally had this M1A Standard in a Troy chassis, but I think my expectations were too high that dropping a M1A standard into a chassis would somehow turn it into an MOA or better shooter... After that I figured best to put her back how the Lord intended it to be and scored the aforementioned wood stock. I liked this one because it had what looks like a rack marking and just had good character, really changes the look and feel over that plastic one it came with.
I think now I'll just appreciate it for what it is, a beautiful, heavy battle rifle that hits hard. As a bonus there's a blurry pic with my 1903A4 clone. Took the pics on one of those paratrooper cases you can find on surplus sites sometimes. Love mine, really fits with either rifle! http://imageshack.us/scaled/large/38/8bkr.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/large/198/1d9h.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/large/94/yot9.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/large/826/5ih5.jpg |

Very innovative, but how does 3.6 inches of eye relief work for you with the optic that far forward?

It seems to work fairly well. I could be farther away and the optic would still work, but my FOV inside the optic would shrink too much for my taste. Right now, I can see MOST of the inside FOV just fine, so I think its good to go. I will try and post pics of the sight picture when I have a chance. |

Stupidity is like nuclear power. It can be used for good or evil...and you don't want to get it on you.

That's a VLTOR stock. Ben hankering for one myself, maybe if I ever get a Loaded or Match rifle.

The RAZOR 5-20 EBR2-MRAD just became a wedding gift to a friend of mine and it will be getting a Vortex VIPER 6-24x50 FFP with the XLR reticle. Eventually the rifle is going to get some parts replaced for when I get the YHM 762 M1A suppressor mount installed so I can tune the gas system for suppressed use. |
