NY State laws mirror the Federal "Assault Weapon" provisions, with the exception of the sunset clause.
If you have a pre-ban or postban no problems just make sure your postban rifle is compliant with the feds. ( this goes for any post-ban service rifle type firearm). The only restrictions are NO FULL AUTO (class 3 firearms are allowed in NYS unless youre a licenced mfr.,law-enforecement with special permission from local or state police.) No handguns may be brought to NYS, due to the Sullivan Law, and it's an automatic 1 year jail sentance to do so. No state magazine restrictions, although some localities have banned Military look-alikes. (travelling thru such areas, you are covered under the federal Firearms Owners Protection Act.) If you're travelling the firearms must be in a trunk, or case separate from ammo or loaded mags. Here's a link to the state laws posted on NYS Rifle and Pistol assn. site: # http://www.nysrpa.org/ Look under other items of interest , then NY gunlaws. The cost will be $13.50 for the match if you supply yourself with 60 rnds. of ammo, or if you want to shoot one of the club supplied M1 Garands with our ammo it'll be $25.50. I will be trying to get T-shirts made up, if there's enough interest. Also, we will have to decide on meals for the number of people that actually commit to the shoot, and charge accordingly. We'll probably do picnic type food, hotdogs, hamburgers etc., for breakfast, I thought possibly bagels, oatmeal, Cornflakes, rice crispies , that type of stuff. plus after the match, last year we went to a local restaurant. All safety regulations will be enforced on club grounds, no .50 BMG is to be fired on the premisis, and noise must be kept to reasonable levels after sunset to keep the neighbors happy. If You have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. We've EXTENDED the GATM shoot to include Saturday night and Sunday morning! Many of you have requested an extra couple of hours range time and the president of the Greenfield Club has approved a second night! |
PS we have almost hit the 30 mark!
Keep those e-mails comming in! |
One quick question.
I don't own a CMP legal "service" rifle. ( got a couple AR's , AK's And a FAL though ) Can I shoot the Match just for fun / no record? |
I'm more inclined to think it is the operator behind the FAL You did do a wee bit better with my M1A, however. |
This is a FUN match, yes, bring your AR, AK, or FAL! We also have M1 Garands for your use! So sighn up! E-mail me with your information and I'll try to answer any questions you have. |
Dan, you've never seen my G1 in action, I used my H&R Garand ('ol Painless" last year) Maybe this year I'll use the G1 |
I now reserve my spot on the line directly to the left of Dan ;) |
I thought you liked hot brass dumping on you! |
Goodorbit, just borrow Abominog's head gear
"Tactical Turbans, eliminate those hot brass hickeys from inconsiderate poodleshooters!" |
Now I'll have to order one in MARAPAT. Who's bringing the poodles? Anybody pick up a CMP garand from last year? |
We'll have a streamlined system of paperwork this year for those who wish to order their Garands.
Talked to Tony a few days ago about this and he'll have a simplifed means proving you've met the requirements. Orbit, you bringing your STG agin this year? I'll have it's cousin the G1 with me. |
Could be an AR or not... Not sure....

Bring your granny guns, you're all in for an asskicking this year!
"Granny Guns?" Oh my.....talk about motivation. I think "plucked penguin, with a side of crow" will be on the after-shoot dinner menu
If I don't win it'll be because I can't see the targets through the haze of black powder your muskets throw off.

Sorry Ed, I think I included the penguins name with my crew as he went with us last year...after all, we need at least one guy to be able to out-shoot

Damn! you keep lowering your standards like that admitting penguins, and soon we'll be called the NY frigid crew |
I must be blind I missed this tack. Incoming Email wade. Justin
Does anybody know the answer to this? I would get a case either way,but it would be better to get it there! |
ED get hold of John Randolph over on the FALfiles, he's transporting the ammo for us. Go to the Meetings & Events and look under the GATM Thread there
Also to all of you, csome have asked if we can extend our stay till Sunday morning, I'll check with Mike, but I don't think it'll be a problem, MORE RANGETIME! |
Ed, the way I understand it you call Dan's and make the purchase and ask Dan to set it aside for John Randolph to pick up on his way to the shoot. I need to send a PM to John, and ask him if he'll bring a case for me.
