I found On Killing to be thought provoking when I first read it. However, I did find some of his positions and statistics a tad suspect.
On Combat was MUCH better and held my attention throughout. A very valueable book for any armed professional. For a counter-point to On Killing I prefer "The Dark Side of Man: Tracing the Origins of Male Violence" by Micheal Ghiglieri. Brilliant book. |

That's your first post? An advertisement for seminars?
Look... I like Dave Grossman. I've met him, and heard him speak. He personally autographed a copy of his book for me. But c'mon. |

The only proper purpose of a government is to protect man's rights, which means: to protect him from physical violence.

OP's handle is justken2u, which is the handle of Ken Murray, who gave testimonials for Oral IV. For those who don't obsessively follow internet gun forum drama: Oral IV, which was touted as a miracle rehydration drink, has been found to be basically no better than water. This didn't stop a number of gun industry celebrities from endorsing it and giving glowing testimonials, namely Rob Pincus, Travis Haley, and none other than the OP of this thread, Ken Murray. When called on it, web pages were deleted (but not before screenshots were taken, see quote below ), backtracks were made, the usual stuff.
Personally, I wouldn't want to associate with people who make grandiose claims and sell bullshit products. Here is some interesting info: Please forgive the obsessive compulsive screen caps, but those involved with Oral I.V. have shown a track record of changing websites in order to duck responsibility. In case any of these references are later removed/altered, I wanted to preserve their state at this point in time.
Notice that if you currently visit the Our Authors section of the Oral I.V. blog, there is only one author: "Oral IV" No further information is given on this author, but I simply assumed it was Mr. Beck* An interesting note if you hover over the avatar, however; you'll note that the url it points to is http://oraliv.com/author/justken2uhotmail-com/ Note the above-mentioned URL in the lower lefthand corner of this screen grab This points to the fact that author "Oral IV" either originally registered using the email address "[email protected]" or that the userid itself was "[email protected]" and was later updated to "Oral IV" So who is [email protected]? Off to Google! As you can see in the very first result, [email protected] is Ken Murray's email address. He has used this email to register http://restoringresponsibility.org as seen in the details at http://wa-com.com/restoringresponsibility.org http://restoringresponsibility.org redirects to http://sheepdogseminars.com/ which again shows Ken Murray. And hey... there's Rob Pincus in the Instructors section and the Affiliates section. We'll come back to that. Let's move on to Google result #2 - a blog post from 2006: http://melanotan.org/cgi-bin/yabb/Ya...num=1136156936 I've been off the boards lately but still have USA manufactured peptide available at $100/10 mg plus overnight shipping. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] Screen Grab: http://byrong.com/oraliv/melanotan.png I encourage people to read around on their own, but the short story is that Melanotan Peptides (aka Melanotan II), which "[email protected]" is offering for sale, have never been approved by any regulatory body for human use. Apparently the evidence is not solid on whether it reduces the chance of skin cancer, or increases it. It is a substance that people buy off the internet from untested sources and inject into their bodies for the purpose of tanning their skin. Seriously. Here are some more threads where user justken2u discusses the product, including injection: http://melanotan.org/cgi-bin/yabb/Ya...num=1082389609 http://melanotan.org/cgi-bin/yabb/Ya...num=1078680588 I notice that he also uses the email address [email protected], which is linked to a Verified LEO account at Police One: http://community.policeone.com/membe...tmail-com.html Google result #3 is just a trademark for Reality Based Training Association. Go to their forum and see Ken Murray again using the username justken2u: http://www.rbta.net/ Google result #4 takes us back to Oral IV: where this journey started. No use looping back there again... and the rest of the Google results are unremarkable as well, save for the fact they further establish that justken2u is a userid commonly used by Ken Murray (as seen on Christine Maggiore's Memorial Wall, for example). So I said we'd come back to Mr. Pincus... In Mr. Pincus' blog post, "The Oral IV Controversy", he says that he was introduced to Oral IV by Ken Murray, which was part of his reason for believing in the product. He does not explicitly mention Mr. Murray having any stake in the company, but neither does he say that Mr. Murray is unaffiliated. In his M4C post, Mr. Pincus further states that if Oral IV turns out to be a placebo, it means that "Ken Murray... myself and many, many others may have been fooled." I still don't know what that means for Mr. Murray's involvement though. Has he been "fooled" into using it? Or was he "fooled" into getting involved with the company? I do not have enough evidence to suggest that Ken Murray is directly involved with Oral IV, but I find it extremely curious that his email address was used to set up the Oral IV blog account. In my eyes, this also casts further doubt on Mr. Pincus' repeated assertions that he has no dogs in this fight (even setting aside his commercial sale of the product... yes I know he later agreed to donate to charity... yadda yadda yadda). *I will no longer dignify Mr. Beck's degree in "Naturopathy" by calling him "Doctor." View Quote Hahaha, nice! I can tell you've found a lot of the same things I did. I didn't bother looking further into the Electrolife Sport patent, mostly because it rather obviously was essentially the same talking points. Of course, Beck basically denied any connection at all. Weasel that he is.
As for screen grabs... Holy hell. I have dozens upon dozens of their ongoing revisionism. Maybe we should sit down and compare notes? As for Ken Murray... Murray is the vice president and director of Hydration Solutions Inc. Oh and of course, Murray is also affiliated with... Grossman. This is like the Happy Pirate Club of Spurious Bullshit... Ken Murray has a good book entitled "Training at the Speed of Life". Lots of good info in it. And, I don't agree 100% with Grossman but I do find a lot of his concepts and ideas very valuable. |
