Larry,

Saw the announcement about Magpul and CProducts. Does this mean the first 7.62x39 mags to be shipped will have the Magpul II followers?

Larry,

Thanks for the kind words.  I have passed them on to my son.  He is doing well.  He is keeping 'busy!'  And looking forward to coming home fairly soon.

I ordered 6 mags today and it will be still a few more week until the ship out but a good working mag is worth the wait. Very soon I will see a rainbow of 7.62x39 from the "Punisher"

Larry,

Can’t wait to get my mags via U.S. Snail-Mail.  By this Saturday we should be hitting 112F to 115F here in Quartzsite, AZ.  I’ll give you a report on how they work out in this heat.

BTW, you could also offer a mag holder for the AK-47 striper clips or make your own and offer that as an accessory item to us new AR-15 7.62x39 mag owners.  If you need a few I can send you 10 (got about 120) to play with, just let me know and I’ll have them in the next mail out from our little hellhole here in the desert.

SOLD!  It saves me from having to buy an AR47 receiver (and dedicating a complete gun).

That's too bad, we will have a 7.62x39 that is reliable.

Just checked the C Products LLC web site and Larry has posted that they will be available come 6/19/06.  I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to leave the roof so I can start my raid.

Check on the link above and bookmark it so you can get your orders in too!

Larry,

If I plan to use Dura-Coat on my mags, would it be better to order these mags unfinished, or would it have any effect on the mags at all?  hanks,

Call them.  The part number is hard to find.  I have a couple and they run great, very well finished too.

DPMS reported 10/2005 (archives) that the batch they received had run out.

DPMS pn was MA30-AK

i have tried to make a few Franken mags with not much sucess.  i can't seem to get a working follower that will go from the AK part to the AR part without hanging up.  If you have a couple that’s cool.  it’s a piece of history.

I’m sad to say that I have some “Colt” AR-15 7.62x39 mags that are nothing more than the AR/M16 mags with a different follower and new butt plate that calls it a Colt 7.62x39 mag.

The best way to see it you have one of these Franken "Bait & Switch" mags is to sit it along side an AR/M16 mag.  If the feed lips are of the same length it will fail to function after the first several rounds.  The after market mags that I have do have a longer feed lip.  A second point is with a weaker material used, with time the lips will bend and this too will cause jams and feed problems.

Just 8 more days heC Product mags and our problems will be over.  Strike that, now we will have a problem getting our ammo as I think you will see a large demand for 7.62x30 and a short supply for our needs…

Edited 13JUN06:  Sorry for the use of the wrong term here and thanks for the fast help in pointing this out to me.

FWIW, normally the term "franken mag" usually refers to USA brand 7.62 AR mags, which were made by welding a commie AK mag to an AR type feed tower. The Colt factory mags are not what most folks are talking about when they refer to "franken mags".

Here's a pic of my R6830 with a USA brand "franken mag":

Just trying to clarify the terminology most often used on this board to avoid confusion for those just getting into 7.62 AR's.

Not to panic anyone (especially us Colt AR-15 7.62x39 owners hinking.gif ), but come Monday I’m kind of wondering how many Postal Employees are going to call in sick, go on vacation, or just out right quit knowing that C Products is going to be doing a MASSIVE shipping of our ‘NEW” AR-15 7.62x39 mags?

This could cause further delays in shipping times and final deliveries.  Then again we have the possible local Mailman that may be forced to put in for medical leave or medical retirement due to the delivery of heavy packages from C Products on his Mail Rout.

I think I’ll go down and get a good 5th of Scotch, Bourbon, or even go all out with a bottle of Yukon Jack as a thank you to give to my Mailman for my fast delivery from C Products to take the sting out of having to deliver my heavy package.  After all he may still have a sore back, but he will have that smile on his face!

Forgive me if I missed this somewhere, but is this first run enough to fill all the back orders and STILL have enough in stock for dorks like me that haven't ordered yet? Or, will that have to wait for the next run/runs of 7.62 mags.

Thanks
