OOPS!!

I just saw the "on or about 2/27"... Sorry. That'll work out pretty good for me. I should
be back in the US around mid-March. The next things I'd be interested in are stainless
20 round mags, and possibly mini-14, or AK magazines. I've been noticing that AK mags
are gettings scarce, and there's never been a good supplier of mini-14 mags.

I am a fan of the Mini-14. I had one as my first evil rifle when I was a kid. I'd probably buy one if I could get a few quality mags for one. But right now I'm wanting C Products to concentrate on 6.8, 6.5, 7.62x39 and 9mm AR mags.  After that, then some Mini-14 mags. They could sell a bizillion of those and have NO competition.  Except for the few $40-45 Ruger 20rd mags that slip through LE cracks...

Received my SS mags.  Very high quality.  Will bring them out to the range this weekend.  I got out the digital food scale.  Here are the results:

D&H Teflon with magpul follower and CP TactiPull plate:  4.6oz

CP Stainless Steel Mag with CP TactiPull plate: 6.1 oz

H&K 416 magazines with standard base plate:  8.9oz

Notably lighter than H&K coupled with some of the drop-test reviews posted earlier.  Looking good at this point.

I received two of the CP SS mags.  I love them.  The black MarLube is great.  It's a very nice dark charcoal grey-black.  I did a less scientific weight test against the HK 416 steel mags.  The CP SS mag weighed right at one pound with thirty rounds of 55gr ammo.  The HK 416 mags weighed one and a half pounds with thirty rounds of 55gr ammo.  That adds up very quickly when you're carrying several mags.  The HK mags have a "maritime" anti-corrosion finish.  With the finish completely gone off of a CP SS mag it still won't rust...  I can't wait to range test my mags.  I'll post it Saturday or Sunday, when I've completed my range testing.  If they work like I hear and believe they will, I will have bought my last aluminum mag!

My understanding is standard Magpul Followers will not work in the Stainless mags and the Stainless mags do not need them becuase their follower is similar.

They don't need them but the Mag-Pul glow-in-the-dark followers went in just fine, no problems.

Larry:
I just received two of your C Products SS 30 round mags for the AR15, and want to thank you for a quality product at a good price.

I shoot the 6x45mm wildcat cartridge in Two of my AR15's and this mag allows me to seat my bullets out around .030" more to around 2.290" OAL. Bullets such as the Hornady 87 grain V-Max with its long ogive to tip distance can now be loaded to mag length, this is something I have been looking for for a while.

I will be ordering more of these in the near future thanks again.

Joe

So, for those who have had a chance to use them for a while, how well has the Mar-Lube finish been holding up?

I've put pretty near a 1000 rounds through 5 mags.  Can't tell you about the finish.  The only time I pay any attention to a magazine  is when it doesn't work.  Otherwise I just use them.  Thus far they've funtioned flawlessly.  For kicks, I loaded 31 rounds in them last time out and they fed just fine.  No idea why, but they did.   Part of my torture test of sort.  Needless to say, the Marlube finish wear was not of concern to me.  I'll take a look next time and report back.

We just got ours and my first impression is very good.  Very solid feel to them.

I noticed the SS magazines are harder to disassemble because they are so tough.  I accidentally bent one of the floor plates trying to remove it so I could oil the CS spring.  After that one I came up with another way:  Use a thin screwdriver at the heel end to pry up the floor plate just enough to get past the retaining tabs detents, then insert a wide one at the toe end to PUSH the plate the rest of the way out.

On that first one I thought the retaining tabs detents were still holding it so I just kept prying at the heel end.  Oops.

Larry,

Just to clarify, CP and MagPul have designed a GEN II follower that will be standard for the Stainless Steel mags?  And the followers in the SS 6.8 SPC mags are MagPul as well?

Thanks again and congratulations on reaching a new high.  You guys amaze me!

Take care and enjoy the weekend LArry.

Best Regards,

Justin

Thanks for the offer Larry.  The bent one is still usable as a few tweaks and the tension from the body tabs flattened it out just enough for the detents to engage the body.

BTW:  In my earlier post I should have said 'floor plate detents' when I said 'tabs.'

Magpul has designed the Gen II follower to work in our .223 stainless magazine and will be the standard. The followers in the 6.5, 6.8 are licensed by Magpul and we manufacture them.

Just received five of C Products stainless 30-rounders.  Very nice.  They feel more substantial than the aluminum version, which they should be.  Mine had the Magpul followers already installed which is a nice touch.  I need to function test these, but anticipate buying 5-10 more in the near future.  Assuming they work the way they should, these will be my "go to" magazines and the aluminum mags will become "back-ups" of sorts.

FWIW, this is another bandwagon I certainly didn't mind jumping in on.......

Received my first order of Mar-lubed SS 30 round mags last week and placed a second order earlier this week for the same amount.

and BTW, a big "muchas gracias" to Larry for the couple extra standard 30 rnd mags thrown into my order, which is one fine way to do business, (where else can ya order 14 mags and get 2 extra for no-charge).

I just got back from abusing the first one that I bought and tested a couple of new ones I just received.  Very great mags indeed.  I don't see much need for improvement.

I bought two with the bottom ranger plate loop. When I received the mags no loops. Called the customer service number. The president of the company answered the phone. I explained the situation to him. I received 4 loops two days later. Excellent product, excellent customer service. The mags are superior, work great, and I have yet to have a malfunction. The finish is unmarred as of 200 rds per mag. The extra cost is worth the outstanding customer service....

I've been playing with the regular production SS mags for a while.  Today one of them visited the range puddle again.  I let the mag sit in the water for a bit, then I worked it around to get some muck/grit inside the mag.  Pulled it out, let it drain for a bit, then ran 30 rounds though (x3).  No problems at all, as usual.  By the time I made it home and broke the mags down, a thin layer of rust had started on a few areas of the CS spring.  The rust wiped off with a rag soaked with FP-10.  After cleaning up the mags, I had a strange idea.  What if I applied bit of automotive wax to the exterior.  I spent all of about 3 minutes on it, but the wax gave it a slick protective coat and it felt very similar to a Teflon finished mag.  I know the SS material should hold up fine, but SS can eventually rust.  Ridiculous, pimp-like move...?  I dunno, but I've applied wax to 1911's to help prevent or minimize rust.

I called CP and ordered some steel mags.  Received my order via UPS ground in one business day.  In my book that is incredible service.  Btw, as you all already know the mags look great and well made. I will be trying them out this wekend but I have no concerns.

The fathers day special really makes an already good price even better and a more compelling reason to purchase if you need mags.
