Here are my two light weights (picked up this BM Carbon 15 M4 tonight) pictured with my two heavy weights (Krebs KTR03V & Vector V-53 HK clone)....

As lightweight as possible with all the upgrades I wanted (just shy of 7.5lbs).

I would LOVE to know what that setup weighs complete as it is more or less exactly what I am considering putting together.  A flattop carbon upper with Colt light barrel and stock guards on a CavArms MkII lower seems to be as light as you can get...?

I have everything to finish I hit the gun show looking for a light carrier but did no good. I will put it together tomorrow and weight it.

Thanks!

Where'd you get the carbon upper?  Did you have to buy a complete carbon Bushy?

The upper is a Hesse. It was given to me from the original light weight carbine mad man.
There was a thread (that I wish I could find to read again) on this subject. Two or more guys were building for minimal weight and fun.
Here is a pic of one of the carbeans...

I just did a search and found one of the other's...and he had problems with the threads after only 1000 rounds.  5.25 pounds with an Eotech sure is nice but in the pics in this thread it doesn't even look like carbon fiber...looks like a really cheap polymer.  I hadn't realized Hesse had re-infiltrated the market hiding under another name....

That's one of the threads. That makes me nervous about that upper. I have a forged upper also I will weigh both to see difference.
This has been done with a carbon lower but I wanted to do this with a Cal arms lower. If the upper doesn't work I have nothing into it.

I was bored so I went to work and assembled the thing. With the carbon upper it was 5.00 lbs. With the forged upper it was 5.36.
After looking at the pics above I went with the forged upper. I forgot the sight at home so I will have to re weight tomorrow.

the one with the carbon fiber free float 5oz from Hiperform and bushy superlight weighs in at 5lbs 10oz  I even machined in some lightening slots on the front site block/sights that you can't see in this pic.  BTW it runs like a freaking charm.

Hows a MkII end up weighing 0.11 more than a forged lower with skeleton stock.  Hell when Slumlord gave 5.25 as a figure that was with Eotech on board.  What gives with 5.36 with forged upper?  Where'd the pound of weight savings from the MkII go?  Does that stock make that much weight difference?

He had a carbon lower and upper. I was looking at Bushmaster guns in carbon fibre. The M4 model is 5.5 lbs.
I didn't bring the rear site today to weight it but I will. I used the Colt barrel nut but I think I have a lighter  one here. Also there are lighter carriers out there if I don't find one I will have this one milled.

via the CavArms industry question thread...I think I've seen figures slightly differ....

AR-15A2 weighs in at 2.62 pounds

AR-15A1 weighs in at 2.38 pounds (with our C1 stock and butt plate)

CAV-15 MkI weighs in at 1.94 pounds

CAV-15 MkII weighs in at 1.69 pounds

The stocks are reproduction XM607 stocks from WA-Tom at Total Silence, Inc.

They are also listed under the Industry Section and make all sorts of retro-goodies, including the three-prong flash-suppressors, XM moderators, shorty triangular handguards, and early-style delta charging handles.

Uxb,
Thank you, I have seen the triangle "carbean" handguards on his site. I think one of those stocks will be perfect on one of my rifles.

Thanks again.
