The P7 isn't exactly gas operated, not in the way gas shotguns, FALs, AKs, ARs, etc are. Gas pressure retards slide velocity; there is nothing locking the "bolt" (slide) to the barrel except gas pressure at ignition. -z |

If Wes keeps posting that picture of that 10.5" there won't be any funds left over |
Also the Vektor, discontinued due to reliablility issues I still want a gas operated 10mm though. |

Is "shortly" in human years, or in earth time years? ETA? Cheers PS You are SUCH a tease!! |
HipFiredGun is a broken record. He keeps talking about how "soon you will see" or whatever, but no proof. I am not interested in vaporware. If I have not even seen pictures of a prototype, I will not believe it exists.
HFG,
I heard differently. I hope there will be a Colt upper with gas piston(cough cough HK), quick release barrel using std barrel detachable lower rail. It will definitely be interesting. As far as my narrow asian eyes can see, the LMT MRP is defintely a class above all. |
I tend to go with what I see rather than what I hear as far as SCAR is concerned. The MRP is a good concept but has some key deficiencies, it's one solution to a problem but it's not a QCB by a long stretch. The main advantages are the integral rail system and the massive heat-sink that the upper receiver provides - but LMT missed the boat in a lot of regards which will become apparent soon, they were very close but not close enough. Like it or not, the MRP will be obsolete in January 2005. HFG |
HFG, I have been a long supporter of Colt even when they have done stupid PC stuff. But,I am very tired of vaporware. If Colt's offering is not just an equivalent but greater than LMT's CQB MRP, then what the hell is it? If you cannot tell due to NDA, then you ahould not be posting anything. Put up or shut up. I run Colt BCG components on all my 5.56MM weapons. they are the most reliable. BUT, you have only posted BS with no specifics with respect to the SCARS. Colt's offering, if its real better be in both 5.56MM and 6.8SPC. HFG, up until till today, the ratio of Colts that I own versus LMT ot even BM. just crossed the line. FYI: If you are really connected, the Colt better start offering mil-spec FCG pins. |

Oh Lawd My eyes are Bleeding.
and My wallet is ready to file a restraining order against me. |
I think we can guess: . QCB . railed fore-end, most likely unified with receiver . probably piston-driven -z |
I saved and saved for an MRP, then bought a Ford Lightning with the MRP money (and then some, of course). |
The company that wins the SCAR contract will most likely NEVER release this product to the CIVY market. So all of you that are waiting to buy the upper that wins SCAR might be in for a long wait! While the LMT MRP most likely will not win, it is a good option and is available to you now..... C4 |
Good point. Which ever company wins will be busy enough filling .mil orders, and ASSuming Colt wins, they probably won't even think about releasing to civvies. Hell, they won't even put flash hiders, bayo lugs and telestocks on their civvie rifles. A couple will probably fall into civvies hands from friendly Colt dealers but they will be few and the prices will be inflated. I'd sell a kidney for an MRP, but I blew all of this year's lunch money on new Kimber and a standard LMT 10.5 upper. |
Grant, last I heard the MRP is in the front running with another company other then Colt. I figure they have a pretty good chance to win the SCARS. What is the use of a QCB??? SCARS does not require a QCB during a mission, it requires for system that can be configured on the field level for operator to setup the system for a specific mission. a QCB that HFG is talking about is bacsically asking for a system that is covered in another requirement. |
The MRP is an excellent system for sure and it meets the requirements. I don't think it will win though.... C4 |

I saw yours in a pic once. Very nice. I still have an order coming your way in a couple of weeks, but not near as big as it would have been. |
hey chen,
is the the same setup mrp you brought out to shoot a couple of weeks ago? and if not can ya bring it out next time.. i didn't get a chance fire your mrp last time out. see ya soon. meat |
This is very true. One must plan ahead for a very long time. Its some of Wes's "surprises that really get you (or should I say me). |
Yes, i will. |
What are you expecting to hit the market in January 2005? |
Hello guys,
I just got back from a Law enforcement expo here in IL. The LMT Rep. (Gene) there told me that 6.8spc barrels are in the works, and should be available in approx. 8 weeks. Nick D. |
Write ups on the MRP currentlyon the shelves, in both SWAT magazine and SureFires COmbat Tactics.
... Woo hoo! That thing looks like a nuclear powerplant SMGLee!
What's the the hold-up with chrome barrels, anyway?
And what's the third caliber? |
According to the color brochure he gave me, it says "SINGLE WEAPON MULTI-CALIBER CAPABILITY: Change the caliber of the MRP by simply changing the barrel. Calibers supported include: 5.56x45, 5.45x39, 6.8x43, 7.62x39 and ______." The ______ after 7.62x39 was blacked-out with a permanent marker??? As far as the barrels go, (if I remember correctly...not 100% on this, I was so excited), he said they just recieved the blanks and they should be ready within 8 weeks. |
You didnt tell me about it before I ordered my LMT M4 upper! I woulda bought the MRP Now I'm gonna sell my M4 and get the MRP. When I get back in country, in late November. Pics of MRP and Lightning to follow that. |
Dont feel bad Jack, I just ordered a LMT M4 upper and a LaRue 7.0 handguard on Monday. I havent even layed my filthy paws on it yet and im already thinking about selling it to get the MRP!!!
Thanks Zak, But I got all the motivation I needed at the show today being able to handle and fire the MRP...Im sold!
Any potential issues that you can think of permanantly attaching a phantom f/h to a 14.5" MRP barrel??? Will the overall length be 16.1" ??? |
I agree. He needs to be punished. |
I set my 14.5 inch barrel up with a Vortex G6 and it is now in legal length. Phantom is about the same length so you will be free and clear of any SBR regulartions. since the barrel is quick release, you can easily have the barrel send out to someone that can do the work. |
I am still waiting on my PVS-14 to arrive, once it is here, it definitely look lioke a freaking power plant. |
Do you still have the 40mm around there somewhere? You were going to put that on the MRP and take a pic
+1! How does the MRP handle with the 40MM, btw? -Cap'n |
Give me a few weeks, i have to ship the MRP to the guy with the 203.
At least I listened and was one of the first to get mine last year! |
Yeah, but didn't I read somewhere recently that you still haven't shot it yet??? What's up with that? |
You have a good memory. I had to wait forever to get the enhanced bolt set and did not have it the last time I made the 2.75 hour trip to the range in Calverton, NY on June 18th. The range in PA that we go to was closed most of the summer due to problems with a new development near by. I was looking forward to finally shooting it a week ago but the transmission went on our van. We have only gone shooting twice this year. |

hehehe thanks, I figured you and USMC03 would have a heart attack looking at all these uncovered rails
I do wish LMT would make the MRP fully compatible with KAC rail covers though. The rails towards the muzzle have the relief for KAC rail cover clip, but not the rails from the rear... |
Yes, you do need to do something about that naked top rail . I went with the Magpul XT covers, since so many are needed I qualified for quantity pricing . |
