Despite our best efforts, the deal fell through. Our apologies...
OK, here's the news. Scope will be a new model TA31 with a donut reticle callibrated for a 14.5" barrel mounted to a flat top. I believe the ammo is M855 but will try to confirm. The scope will come with Trijicons TA51 flat top mount. When I know what model designation Trijicon gives this, I will let you know. As of now, I dont think they have actually named it yet. Price will $875 TENTATIVE delivery will be around NOVEMBER 2004 Where and when you should send your money will hopefully be announced soon. THERE IS NO LIST TO BE PUT ON! Again, just keep an eye out here for the go ahead! When you read where you should send the money try to get in quick because this will be for a limited time/number of scopes. |

Damn good designation, IMHO. |
sounds good. I want one. Do we HAVE to wait till Nov? |

Chevron would have been ideal...but $875 is even more IDEAL. I'm in.

I dare anyone to find a new BAC ACOG available for under $1000.00. If you have ever considered buying one, this may be the best opportunity you will ever see. I am considering one to build a rifle around just because the price is so good.

Oh I am tagging this too Edited to reflect changes |

Beside an ACOG for a better price........what do we get if we do? |
it's times like this when i wish i had money. ...i guess i could always sell my gun for and ACOG, but that kind of defeats the purpose. |
I actually didnt have anything to do with the choice of reticle.
Not sure if they're in stock but here. |
He id say "available" and I can pretty much gaurantee they dont have TA31's in stock, the the TA31F, which is the scope that you would have to compare the group buy optic too is going for $918.03. Granted, it is under $1000, and the group buy ACOG isnt actually available yet either...

I was just chain yanking. You must have done the happy dance when they told you right ? |
Hahahaha, man, I was so happy when I got the ok to post some more details. Hopefully I will be able to tell everyone when and where to send money very soon!
I think I'll get two and make a pair of opera glasses.hinking.gif

Good God. I'm going to have to cut down on Christmas presents this year. Because Papa's gettin' an ACOG.
I am pretty sure it wont. |
SWEET mother of god.... I'm in..... :)
"Dude... you're getting an.... ACOG!" |
Good! I'm ready to place my order, but I still have a question. New-arguy, could someone confirm the scope is for a 14.5" barrel and not a 20" barrel like the original TA31 or TA31A. Not trying to cause problems but it seems odd that we would be getting a one of a kind scope using a different reticle then the one that comes off the assembly line. I"m asking because I want one for my 20" AR and not my 14.5" barrel AR. Either way I'm still ordering one!
The price $875 is good for a TA31 or TA31A and great for a TA31F! Thanks, Leadfoot |
No mistakes, it is for a 14.5" barrel. Thats sort of the deal with this, its a special first run of a new optic that hasnt been available before. As I understand, this scope will still be available after the group buy, but never again at this price. After this group buy, availability will very likely be as limited as all other ACOGs.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've always stayed away from the TA31F because I wanted a "bigger" reticle. Now it seems like I have that option! I bet when this variation of the TA31 hits the open market it will sell better than the standard TA31F because it's easier to detect and target.
Again thanks for the quick reply and I will keep an eye posted on this thread. Leadfoot |

I have a 16" too, and I'm going by the "Big BDC..." chart tacked in the forum. My feeling is that, at this price, if I ever change my mind and/or find it doesn't work for me, I'd easily be able to sell it and get the $875 (or more) that I paid for the optic/mount package. Or it's gonna force me to buy the 14.5" M4 upper that I would have eventually bought sooner or later. Either way, I see no loss! |
I'm curious as to this myself. What is the difference if mounted on a 16" or 20" ar? |
I too wasn't planning on a 14.5 barrel any time soon. I'll get the ACOG anyway, as I will end up with an M4 sooner or later. If I had my druthers though, it would be for a 16" or 20" barrel.
When served an ACOG calibratedfor an M4, build an M4. |
People listen: the difference between 14.5 and 16 is minimal.
Now what I want to know is for which ammo it is calibrated. |
Are you sure about that? Is that from Newarguy? Last I knew he was going to check w/ trijicon and get back to us. |
Just reinstating what Neil (New-arguy) said. I'm assuming it still standing since he hasn't come back with more information stating that it's not. Also assuming it's following the other (TA31F, TA01NSN) scopes made prior for the M4.
But yeah, you're right it hasn't been confirmed. |
It makes sense that they would use the BDC already worked up for the previous scopes. The only reason I ask is because way back when we first started the idea of a group buy I suggested to Neil that he commision a 16"/m193/flat top calibrated TA31. At the time he seemed interested I just wondered if he had brought that up with trijicon and if that might be the new model. But since he stated he had nothing to do with reticle selection I boubt it |
