6.5 grendel upper on an RRA lower. Original was an RRA Tactical Carbine. Added the 6.5 grendel upper overwatch, WL 19.5 inch match barrel and receiver, YHM free float quad rail, Hogue grip, Vltor club foot stock, Vltor bipod legs. Burris Signature 8-32x 44 scope. Planning on some 300 yard at the club with this new to me scope, just took off the Burris fullfield II ballistic scope.

Nice, I love that float tube. If those are the rings I think they are (Millett Angle-Locs) you might want to seriously consider putting a Swan Sleeve under it along with lower rings. I use Angle-Locs quite a bit, and they have a habit of borking rails if they get too much leverage behind 'em. They also like to gouge up scope tubes unless you lap 'em. I went with ARMS on my AR, and Milletts on my Savage. and life is good.
Link Posted: 2/10/2008 4:46:27 PM EDT
[#28]
Yeah the rings work but i am waiting to find a better solution.  I want a Larue but I hate to drop that kind of money on one.  I am keeping my eyes out for a better solution.  The arms are nice too, but I think I want to go with something one piece.  What kind of leverage do you mean?

I went with ARMS myself. QD base and STANAG rings. Works great. Basically you have a bunch of weight sitting on top of long levers (the rings) that are clamped on with very narrow clamps that put pressure in 2 small spots on the sides of the rail. The gun tries to move back under the scope during recoil, then the gun stops moving and the scope tries to keep going. So, effectively, you're grabbing the rings at the top and bending them back and forth parallel to the barrel.

My first ever AR "build".

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee85/NCLivingBrit/AR/Completewoutsights.jpg

Global Tactical lower (bought from bennnn)
Assorted vendors parts kit  (some from bennn, some Del-Ton)
Ace ARFX stock (-1 bolt which I still don't have!  From Del-Ton)
Del-Ton rifle buffer tube, buffer and spring (from Del-Ton)
Armalite Model: M-15A4 Carbine Complete Upper Assembly with Black Handguard (bought from 55Kingpin)
Magpul Pmag (from Del-Ton)

Total without optics or iron sights comes to about $620.

I've got a YHM front flip BUIS on the way (off EE) and I ordered an A2 style rear YHM BUIS today (Tues).  Eventually I'll be adding an EOTech but that's about all the tinkering I'm planning for this one, as it's going to be my SHTF rifle once it's proven reliable.  I haven't had this much fun in -ages-, can't wait to get this thing dirty!

Here's my AR.  The only real labor I did on it was removing the D-ring and hacking and grinding the front site because I was to cheap to buy a low pro gas block.  In hindsight I could have just bought one and saved myself the trouble, but it's a learning experience.

Bushmaster Upper/Lower
MI 10" FF handguard
TA01NSN
ARMS #19 acog mount
ARMS #40l BUIS
GG&G single point sling attachment
Some sort of slick charging handle tac latch
Hogue Grip

I still need:
A flip up front site
A magpul CTR
Either a Larue or the shorter ARMS acog mount.  Don't know which is better though.  It just doesn't look right the way it is now.
