I turned in a bio and an app with Black Water looking for an Armorers position.
Does anybody have any sugustions, gripes, bitches, complaints, or ideas? Any help on what to expect will help. Thanks, Pat www.blackwaterusa.com/ |
For starters, I hope you spelled the company name right on your coverletter. |
Don't worry, I spelled it just like I did here.
Thanks for checking though. Pat |
What are your quals? They want someone ready to go out of the box! I have a background as a 45B Small Arms Repair, and Glock Armorer cert., along with a couple of AR Armorer's courses, and was passed over for someone with more qualifications?
Why would you name a company after raw sewage (in plumbing and septic tank terms)?
I've been out of the box...
Went to IRAQ for both wars with 3rd INF DIV. the firs time Aco 1st BN 7th INF, and Bco 3rd BN 7th INF the second time. |

Good luck .
Think about this : They are the most widely known Merc. group ever. And dont kid yourself they are Mercs. Only they sold out IMO. If I was a Merc. no one would know except those who need a Merc. shal I say more BUT It may be a good door to something better |
That's not a good sign then, cause the company name is Blackwater, not Black Water. |
My friends parents and their friends hired them for security at their houses for Katrina. The houses didnt get looted.
Did they? |
HOLY FUCKING KOOL AID |
I bet you got a reel, don't you? |
Mercs' have a code of ethics, I am sure of this. I am not a merc and will never be one. Why if you were in the business of War would you want to keep such a high profile? Assasins are low key, a Merc is an assassin, Right? Now I know this has NOTHING to do with an Armorer, but I know of one guy that was a "staff" member and got FUCKED. They are also in the middle of a lwasuit, because one "team member' was KIA'd. Hazards of the job, No guarentees you'll come home alive OR in 1 peice. I guess what I am trying to say is watch who you work for in this type of business, You will be entering in a realm of death. Legal thugs as you could say |

Yea...I heard they fired a custodian last summer.... |
It's Blackwater, not Black Water

So everyone here is a Blackwater expert huh?
I am not , but I do alot of reading on these guys. I grew in VB where most of the founders were stationed. Great bunch, but they have "sold Out" I lost alot of repsect for them over the last few years. they pay less than what the team members should be getting AND they are turning into a coporate america type of gig. They need to go backl to their roots. BTW anyone here a team member? And NO he was not a janitor, but a "Groundsman" (take that for what you wish) |
The two guys that used to be their primary armorers up in Moyock (Ken and Max) more than knew their shit; but neither work there anymore. If you can get the job, I'd take it but always have a backup plan in place. You never know what is around the corner.
Far as experience, but very knowledgeable (to say the least) with ARs and Glocks at the vey least. It is also helpful to know combloc wepoans inside out and have a healthy understanding of NVGs. |
You are an idiot. There is just no nice way to say it, sorry. Blackwter is well known yes, but not every team operates the same. Some believe in operating high profile, others like low profile, the smart ones ones know when it is time to play high or low at the given moment. IC's (Independant Contractors, and taht is what it says on teh contract) are not Mercs! Mercs work for whom ever will pay them. IC's are all working on US government contracts. The lawsuit concerns the incident in Fllujah when four team members were killed. Everybody knows the dangers, sometimes grieving family members do not comprehend so much i.e. Cindy Sheehan! Legal thugs? GTFO, I do not so much as even have a parking ticket to my name. Legal thugs like guys who are long standing military soldiers? Who do you think is working for BW? There are PMC's who are hiring TCN's as contractors, BW is not one of them. Thanks, now I need some aspirin... |
Unlike the other posters I've actually worked for them, as have a few other people on this board.
The armorers position would be a good one, pretty safe overall. They are not a very organized company, if you can handle that you should have a fun time. |
You asked "BTW, anyone here a team member?"
Well, you never know who's in the house do you, friend. |
No |
You are a class A fuckwit. They are no more mercenaries than you are an intelligent person. |
Ah, the bliss of not having any earthly idea of what you're talking about, while at the same time possessing a bombproof certainty. |
10fp, you oughta take a look at the va forums. a lot of the guys there/here go to blackwater to run through the classes and several bw folks post there (and on gd, apparently!).
they're not thugs by a long shot. for that you gotta look to europe. ETA: bw also shows up at all the military expos. if they were a criminal org or of disreputable character, i'm relatively sure they wouldn't have been invited to show up. all the guys i've met have been friendly and professional. |
Well, some of us have BEEN THERE, TRAINED THERE, and KNOW LOTS OF FOLKS THERE. While I am not an expert, I DO know enough to say that you are full of horse shit.
No kidding.
Sure you do. As opposed to those of us with FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE with them.
Right. The two guys who founded Blackwater sold it and went to create a different training outfit. The current owner had it as a training facility UNTIL the events of 9-11 had people coming to him asking him how they could find experienced people to help with security. Viola! The BW contractor was born. Thus the contention that you grew up in VA beach is absolutely useless. I lived there for years. You don't stumble across BW or BW folks. It is waaaaaaay out in the boonies and nobody has EVER gone there by accident. The damn place is hard enough to find ON PURPOSE. They didn't even start doing contracting work on any scale until the last couple of years, so there is no way on earth that you spent enough time around the contractors to know anything about them. I happen to know a few of their contract workers PERSONALLY.
Odds are you have never met a SINGLE ONE OF THEM and wouldn't know it if you did. "Sold out" indeed.
You are full of shit. Blackwater contractors, especially the EP ones, make more than Navy grunts do.
If you are talking about Helveston, everybody already fucking knows he got killed. And everyone knows the circumstances surrounding it. Now quit playing frogman before someone tears you a new one. |

Overseas or the Katrina project? I'm wondering if we've met. |

That skeert me so bad I nearly soiled my armor just thinking about it. I can only hope I never, "Enter in [sic] a realm of death". Feller could get hurt doin' stuff like that. |
I got the e-mail for the Armorer position. Ken C. used to be their armorer, but I don't know if he is still there or not. I don't know if armorer would be for the onsite facility or for the deployed security contractors... |
Then how the hell do you know that they have "ethics" if you aren't one? You hang around at some sort of "merc" bar or something? Or have you been playing your PS2 games too much??
Holy shit. That is quite possibly one of the stupidest things I have ever read on this site. And I have read a LOT of stupid things on this site.
And if you keep running your mouth about stuff you have NO CLUE on, you too can be entering "a realm of death" The walls have ears. The Merc Assasins have heard you. They are coming for you, little Billy! They are coming for you! Get out while you still can! The groundsmen are on the way!!! |
Good luck. If you get the job you will have a very interesting time.
Most of the guys I met were very squared away. |

To say the Blackwater guys are mercenaries is not a bad thing in my opinion. A mercenary is one who fights for money outside of a regular, established military formation organized by a government. TO me, all contractors in Iraq are mercenaries, but that is not a slight or insult, just a recognition of what the dictionary says.
What are you trying to say? Are you saying you are a SEAL and/or "OPERATOR"? please say it out loud,so the whole class can hear..... |
only Blackwater folks I ever met seemedto be pretty cool characters. Now some of the Custer Battle yayhoos on the other hand, that was another story...
Didn't CB go belly up? I heard they lost all their contracts. |
sure did, due to lots of $$$ disappearing and all kinds of other stuff like that...not evensure of the full story, but I saw a lot of the aftermath in early 05 in Iraq... |
They are no more mercenaries than the EP guys from DOS are, or than a Wackenhut DOE contractor is. THEY ARE NOT FIGHTING A WAR FOR PAY. THEY ARE PROVIDING SECURITY, MEANING THEY DO NOT CONDUCT OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS. Get it? |
CB is no longer in business. They sold their assets to a Romainian based company, Danubia Global. The principals of CB are on trial for defrauding the CPA (Coalition Provisional Authority) CB was about as fucked up as a soup sandwich. |
