All I have is a Colt SP1 lower with an A2 upper. Both are large hole so just trading the lower would still leave me without the correct upper. I would consider it if one receiver was traded for a small hole flat-top upper.

Hmmm, got a pre-ban Colt H-Bar lower I could use for this....mooohahahah!
As for uppers you have to talk to Brian. Once again, I am simply listing it here for Brian as he supports the site financially but does not post here.
As for those who want references, feel free to hop over to the NY/NJ hometown forum and ask. Those guys aren't the type to pull punches when it comes to FFLs. |
Could've fooled me. |
No. I just called me a cynical prick. |
Look guys, not interested in a possing match either which is why I made one poist in response to the allegations made and let it drop. I've asked the NY crew to chime in here about their experiences with B&J... integrity, pricing, service... Whatever their impressions are, good, bad or ugly. Let the chips fall where they may.
If he is flipping the lowers at $400, then everything I've said is a non-issue. It appeared at first that he was the usual buy-low sell-high ban-state dealer. Thats the way it goes up here.
The only thing I took issue with was the whole "help a ban stater" thing if he was really just doing it to make a huge profit. If he is turning around and getting, for the most part, the same cash as a transfer, then he really is helping ban staters out. The proposition looked fishy at best. I'm glad Mike could clear things up. If prices remain high for prebans, the original owner should be getting the money... not a middle man. I suppose, in essence, my concern was for the seller. He would be the one getting scammed if Brian wasn't honest with the deal. It sounds like Brian is legit with the turnaround. - BG |
No problem Bucc... we all have to look out for each other. There ARE a lot of scumbag dealers out there, occassionally there is a really REALLY good one. Come up and visit us sometime, I think you'll really like what you see!
Where abouts are yall anyway? I have to go up through NY on Rt. 84 around Thanksgiving. - BG |
I use Brian at B&J's for all my transfers, even though it's a 2 hour drive for me.
Why? Great service, great selection, great prices, no transfer fee for Team members..... PLUS, Hiramranger treats every Arfcom customer to a steak dinner at Delmonico's.... |
*cough cough*
Team members get discounted transfers, you get free ones because you financed the second store Helldoggy! |
Yeah, but at least your curtain has better weather and hotter chicks. |
Could I trade a complete Bushy post ban lower for a complete Bushy pre-ban lower in this deal ? That would be cool.
Brian has RRA in stock you could call and ask about other deals. I am NOT the one making the deals or controlling the stock.
Wow, and I was happy to swap one for one an Sp-1 lower for a Bushie lower.....
Still don't regret it, of course. Pre-bans for everyone! |
Not always. I tried for a while to swap a preban Colt lower for a postban Colt lower that another dealer had available in the EE for $335. After leaving it up for several weeks and no takers I pulled it. |
Having dealt with Brian on several occasions, I have to tell you he is a stand up guy. I always walk away with a fair deal be it trading or buying. The shop is an hour away for me and well worth the trip. Headed back up there this week for a Clark Custom 1911! might have to pickup a lower too!
He is in business, if he does not make a profit it's cheeper to stay home & watch cartoons. The deals will be fair. |
I have only delt with B&J's guns on small items. I can tell you that it one of the most friendly gun shops I have ever been to. I have never heard anything bad about them
You can check the serial numbers here. www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/ar15serial.html |
I already know it's a preban. Thanks though. |
If it is a preban and the customers can have all those evil features, that is what concerns them... not whether there is a block in it to prevent an auto conversion which they could never do in this state anyway as it isn't class 3. So give Brian a call!
Thanks for the kind words guys. |
Ive done business with Brian even though he is about 2 hours from here. He runs a good shop and takes care of the customer. He also had a nice selection to please everyone from the once a year hunter to the guys like us. Yeah there is a profit involved but so what? A man has to eat and pay his bills just like the rest of us and if he were doing this for free it wouldnt be too smart for his business.
If you have a lower sitting around collecting dust and are not attached to it I dont see how getting 3 lowers for 1 is a bad thing. The SP1 lower we bought for $500 a few years back is not worth more than 3 new lowrs. Brian is just trying to help out here, not take little johnny's college fund away from you. |
I've got an apt. 5 miles north of the Bronx..you work in the Bronx, I work in the Bronx.....try calling ME sometime you coy beotch! |
I wasn't aware that the "Original" Swap thread from last Sept. had expired... *I* started the damn thing to try and get Members to do a one-for-one with Members behind Enemy Lines....If it turned into a bunch of guys trying to unload their "$1200" Preban rifles as "$600" lowers, then mobilize and take the thread BACK. |
Otay then, the block doesn't mean anything. Anyone who has a blocked lower can remove the block if they want to. |
I was under the impression that it was long gone. I see that it is still there! I'll be damned. Tacked after all this time. - BG |

I don't see the rub here. As AFRcom members you may be "hip" to the precise costs of everything down ti the nickels and dimes. As a business man trying to help not just us but the shooting community at large I see nothing but good here. Three lowers coming your way doesn't sem bad to me. If you want to nickel/dime it to death, do so.
For those that aren't members of the ARFcom community, to be able to walk into his shop and get a preban at a reasonable price is a great thing. No one is getting raked over the coals here. I've stuffed the AR15.com URL down friends throats, or told them to "talk to me before you buy." To no avail. They come back after walking in cold to a gunshop and get raped for a grand for a post ban Bushy A1 16 bbl. A businessman need to make a profit. Nothing wrong there. If you can get what you want, how you want it, for cheaper elsewhere do so. And I've done no biz with Brian or his gunshop, BUT to constanly hear people say good things about someone over the course of YEARS here has to be worth something. To see good people here stick by someone doing business in the firearms community for years speaks volumes to me as well. |

Geez it sounds like Wave will be your new Nummy Nums soon. |

Ya Know gun shops do things for profit, that is how they survive, he has come up with a marketing plan where he finds a valuable commodity for locals too lazy or stupid to find thier own, he does this for a fee. That is reasonable and the way it works everywhere except in Communitst countries.
If you can do the foot work and make yourself a better deal privatly then good for you. If a guy says I provide a service for a fee, and you are willing to pay the fee, then no one was harmed and 3 people were helped, the buyer got what he wanted with minimal effort because he feels his time is too valuable to waste going to gun shows/shopping the internet. etc. perhaps your time is not valuable but his is, second it helped the owner of the guns shop, he makes some money and keeps his door open so lazy ass wanna-bees can come in and buy a $2 bore brush without having to pay $8 shipping. Third is the guy who got a 3-1 trade on something that has no added value where he lives because your locals are so frigging corrupt in the democratic/union socialist party that you don't desirve what we have. Everyone is happy here, but the whiners and the whiners will never be happy, no matter what, because the only thing that makes them happy is whining and trying to make others lives as miserable as they are. |

There's a place in Buffalo with similar inventory, that's it, except for whatever might be downstate or on Long Island. I've been to both places several times. I've bought rifles and other items from B&J, never bought anything at the other place. |
David, you and I don't always get along... but thank you for your well thought out contribution.
LOL, yeah 2000+ posts and I just like to cover my bases. I assumed this was right but I juuuust wanna be sure. No sense in pissin' off the man if you can avoid it, you know what I mean? that's for the update, I'm in ...... |
I know what it was and don't miss it a bit. I just like to cover my bases and double, triple and quadruple check to make sure I'm good to go if I give up my pre-ban and then need to mount a suppressor on there. I'm just a cautious guy |
Stripped. |
This is just a quick follow-up. Those individuals who partook in this deal, could you please drop me an IM and let me know how it worked for you. Were you satisfied? Brian wants to know if you are happy, how the process could be improved from your standpoint, etc.
BTT would those who participated please let me know if the deal was completed in a timely manner?
As the Pre-Ban Colt I have is a Full Auto I’m going to pass.
Well my complements to the chef. It's not often you see a gun store that clean, lit and well organized these days. Most seem determined to be small, dusty, dark little holes that make you wonder how anyone but the most dedicated would frequent them. I like my gun stores 'comfortable' too, not sterile "don't touch" uppity, but the last couple of dungeons I've been in make me wonder how the heck we gain any new "converts" especially of the female variety. Next time I'm up Albany way I'll have to stop in. |
