My highschool mascot my freshman year was the Scarlet. An American Indian wearing full war headdress, etc. We had a life-sized replica of an Indian in a glass case in a hallway.
Sometime between then and my Junior year, they decided it was too non-PC and changed it to the letter E. Yep. Just the letter E. |

I remember a town in our area changing its name from the Satans due to public outcry. This was in the early 90s I believe.
