Gas was 35 cents, smokes were 35 cents, well drinks were a buck, Bud was 50 cents at the bar and if you didn't like your job you could pick from several others anytime you felt like it. Carter ruined it for awhile but then the 80's (the best decade) and Reagan came along and it was better than the '70's and people showered and dressed up again.

They knew how to make a good looking truck back then. http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/justdifferentials/Chevy-K10-Pickup-1977.jpg Looks good, but I wouldn't trade my quad cab for the F150 I had in the 80's with the whopping 12 gallon fuel tank, or my dad's two-tone puke green F150 with the same 12 gallon fuel tank. Today's trucks are a LOT more useful -- especially if you have a family. |

There were a lot less fat people. True but everybody smoked. They fried everything, too. Or covered it in cream. They were pot-bellied at 50 and died six months after retiring. 70's "everyday cuisine" was horrible for you. |

That car was cool looking. Until you floored it... |

I was watching Taxi Driver tonight. The people are all dressed like clowns. White people with afros. Then I remembered Norcal's thread about home decor of the 70's. I know every decade has its weird fashions but there's something especially ugly about the 70's. Afros? That was not an afro, no matter what people say about my senior class picture. That was naturally curly hair. |

I'm from the 1970s and I am fucking beautiful. +1 Was born then, but was only 6 when it ended. Not responsible for what my parents dressed me in. Related - watched Jaws lately. Scariest part was the shit they were wearing. WTF was up with those ties? Wait long enough, they'll be back. Fashion repeats. |

The fact that a lot o chicks went bra less made up for it!! oh man, halter tops!!! And tube tops! And jeans that were so tight, that it was a mystery how they could get them on. Somebody once told me that they sprayed the jeans with a water bottle, to get them to temporarily stretch a little, then squeezed into them, and let them shrink to fit as they dried. |

If you don't miss the 70's you weren't there. The 70's were the best times in this country. The music and muscle cars were at their peak. The women were natural and beautiful. I was never with a woman that had a bush like some of these in the porn pictures though.Yuck! Not all women are hairy like a man. We carried guns and knives to school. Our school had a shooting team and they carried their rifles on the bus. No one ever got shot at school. If there was a fight. The guys would give their knives to their buddies to hold until the fight was over. There was much more freedom in those days. Truth. I had a rifle and a shotgun in the gun rack from the day I could drive up to when I went to college. Fights were with fists. We did not have helmets or knee pads for every little outdoor activity. Everybody did not have tattoos or piercings to have an identity. The music and cars were awesome especially from the earlier part of the decade. We wore belts and hats with the bill facing forward. The colors of appliances and bathrooms leave little to be desired now but we never knew the difference then. Fireworks were real and love was really free. |

Have you seen a recent TV commercial where some metrosexual male prances around his home touching various items and turning them into bright and colorful variants? I think it might be IKEA, but the point is that I was wondering if what they were showing is representative of their current demographic? It looked retro '70s-ish. |

I will say this, I spent nearly every summer in So Cal and the fashion and color trends never really took off there.
It was surfer, BMX and skate style and it was what I wore and grew up with. The car and truck trends started there were amazing. I love California so much but that wonderful state has been destroyed by progressive liberalism. |
