View Quote I’m pretty happy with it so far but only have 150 mikes on it and still going easy on it during the break in period. Rode up in the mountains on forest roads yesterday and it did fine. I’m a little impatient to get some more miles on it before really seeing what it will do. My impression so far is that there will probably be times when I will wish it had more power but I doubt there will ever be a situation where it doesn’t have enough power to do what I want to do. It’s so much lighter and maneuverable than the KTM 790 that I had. Much more capable for the type of riding that I like. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Took the wife and kids riding this past Saturday. Was hoping the ground would be frozen but it was thawing enough to make the dirt greasy in places.
We had a KDX50, TTR90, CRF230, and the Foreman. Attached File Attached File Our hunting property is accessed by a suspension bridge which is really hard to keep your balance on. It moves up and down and side-side, if you dab it twists and you swerve. Attached File The bridge goes down to the ground and is covered in cleats. The spacing bucks an atv all over but it's easy on a bike. |

Dumb question: What's the best way to move a family's worth of gear around? The back of the Transit is getting really cluttered and it takes a lot of trips to get the gear loaded up and the disorganization makes me worried something will get left home.
I've been putting boots in milk crate (or trying too as mine barely fit), helmets are kind of everywhere in their bespoke bags, clean riding clothes is easy, not sure the easiest way to transport dirty stuff. More milk crates? I didnt want to put stuff in sealed tubs/totes or those big hockey bags for fear of it turning into a stinky gym bag kind of thing, want to make sure the helmets and boots can dry. Boots are often too dirty to put in a duffle but clean enough to wear again with out hosing them off first. Seems like a common problem but I'm pretty new and figuring it out. When it was just me it was easy, with an extra three going it's more complicated. |

When I get home I toss my jersey and base layer in the wash and put my helmet in the boot dryer. Wear my pants for a long time before I wash them. I suppose a guy could wash his knee guards and chest protector/pack but I have never gotten around to it. |

The mx gear bags look nice but at $100+ a pop is the kind of thing that I'd buy myself and not the kids

I’m tempted to pick up another DR650 before the epa makes it impossible to get them. They get my vote for the best dirt worthy adventure bike.

I have about 400 miles on the KLX300. Last week I rode about 125 miles of forest roads and some nice twisties in between. Really happy with it so far. Been a few times I wished it had a bit more power but I has been plenty capable of doing everything I have wanted to do so far. I was riding with a guy on a Honda 450L and had no trouble keeping up but we were not pushing it too hard. Going to try some single track trails in the next few weeks and will see how it does for that. |

Kids are going up a size. My son (six) gets the TTR90 and my daughter (nine) a KX65. Will be detuning the KX with a restrictor in the ex port to tame down the hit till she learns the clutch. With me riding it every time it gets on the pipe it's wheelie city. Their mother wasn't there when I bought it and hasn't seen it ridden at full tilt yet.

You can get xcs and txs way easier but you need to do some suspension work for tight shit on those bikes. |

But when my buddy went looking for the same deal starting in January they were nowhere to be found. He caved and forked over sticker plus fees last week. Drove 10 hours round trip to get it. And every KTM dealer around here is cleaned out completely. It's rough times man. |

I really want a 2 stroke but for now the rekluse may do the trick I have a rekluse on my 501 as well. It is an easy button type part for single track, it eliminates stalling and the 500 has so much power it damn near eliminates shifting. Downsides are you can loose engine braking and no way to lock the rear with engine dead if you stall on a hill climb. I had a 300 setup with a rekluse and a clake slr. I used the clutch lever as rear brake and I used the slr lever as clutch. I completely deleted the rear brake and rode like it was a mtb. I may make another one of those setups. |

Gave the KTM a pre-surgery bath. Going to change out the fluids and then I have some parts to replace from my little crash last year (put it down in a wet wood decked bridge…first actual crash in 10 years of riding). New bars, grips, and brush guards on the way. Forgot I need a new shift lever as it got a little bent too. Gotta order that tomorrow. Went with Protaper Woods High bars so I don’t have to hunch over as much while standing. Can’t wait to try them out.
