I have an obsession with the Antonov cargo planes. Had a 124 fly over the house at 2k feet a few months ago, have been checking my flightradar24 ever since to see when the next one comes to Houston.

That one is a Mig-3 I believe. Very neat air craft. I j
Have flown in a Yak-52 and it is a very cool aircraft.

All of the control surfaces were pneumatically powered to train guy to fly jets.

Extremely high rate of climb and very stable forgiving plane.

The Russians were good at some things.

I just discovered this youtube channel today.

Sub Brief

He was a former sonar man on a US sub apparently and he has more info than you'd probably ever want on Russian subs.

Very interesting stuff if you're even mildly into that kind of thing.

They refueled at least one of those ships reactors while at sea.

The spent fuel rods were crammed into a ship called the Lepse. That they have only just begun to cut up into salvageable chunks.

I have a few jumps from one.

For years, I associated those aircraft only with North Korean special operations.

It was only later that I learned how ubiquitous they were.

We're used to seeing countries' seapower compared by looking at aircraft carrier9 or submarines fleets.

This is a perspective you don't see often:

Not sure why arf's photos server keeps destroying the resolution.

The Combat Approved series on Youtube is fun to watch for Russian stuff.  It's straight up propaganda that's put out by the Russian military, but it's still interesting.  The link should go to a playlist of the episodes.

The US had better close the ice breaker gap to make sure that Long Beach and Savannah remain ice free.
