I would take Herbert over Burrow all day every day without thinking twice.

Herbert has a lot more talent, and it shows up on film and in stats despite him having much worse support than Burrow.

It's also interesting that you always list "Mahomes or Burrow" in these conversations as if Josh Allen doesn't exist.

After ONE long range field goal since not having kicked since high school?

Brett Maher is the most accurate kicker in NFL history from 60 and longer.  He also missed 4 PATs in a playoff game.  I personally wouldn’t put a whole hell of a lot of stock in one long range field goal.

I don’t remember what Aikman was paid relative to his peers, but whatever it was, it was too much (with or without a salary cap).

Point taken, Allen belongs in that top 5 conversation as well. And honestly, for 3 #1s and change, other than Mahomes probably anyone is available if I were a GM

And, I guess I hold Burrow in high esteem because, 1- he has been able to be very successful in one of the worst run franchises in the NFL and 2- after missing most of his rookie season, he takes his team to the Super Bowl. He is an impressive QB.

Herbert & Allen are similar to me. Both make freak show passes and improvise, are big QB’s that can run & use their size, and occasionally make really dumb mistakes. Allen is worse for the mistakes, but has also done more “putting the team on his back”

Burrow is a young technical QB who tends to be slower to improvise & is going to beat you with his mind & arm.

Mahomes is the freak who does it all.

They’re all in my top 5, but I think the ranking behind Mahomes depends on if you prefer a QB like Manning or a QB like Favre.

Anytime I see stuff like this with a player I think back to the Lance Briggs crash.

Left a bar/party in the early AM hours. His brand-new Lamborghini was then found wrecked on the side of the highway a little while later. No one around. A little while later he called police and said he was at home. Police went to his home, but no one answered the door. The next day he went down to the police station with his lawyer.

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which he plead guilty to, and ended up just serving some community service and paid some pathetic little fine like $500.

I will go to my death bed believing he was drunk driving, probably at a ridiculous speed, and wrecked out. Then he went home to sleep it off and avoid the DUI. Which is an incredibly smart move for a drunk person.

Edit: I'm almost certain this was the off-season after their Super Bowl.

I had a neighbor that did that. He left his car on a median in front of the apartment complex that we both lived in. I saw his car sitting there AFU. He didn't  do as well with the police.

That's a family matter, please respect their privacy.

If dude had not hid out for a month he still be on the Lions, but maybe he needed this time for her to get her story straight.

Yeah. One of those fucked up situations where unfortunately it was in her best interest for him to keep his job. Still actively involved in a paternity child support case with him. He was due $10M guaranteed next season, and that is now gone. She could have had a chunk of it.

Burrow hasn't even had a TE for fucks sake. He took a patchwork and awful OL to the super bowl. He has Chase, and Higgins, who's been injured a lot. That's it.

Burrow vs. Mahomes 3-2

That's kinda been my perception of Burrow as well. He has made chicken salad out of chicken shit, while on a team that overall isn't as talented as other teams in the AFC.

Burrow has also had a moderate defense.

I wouldn't say Herbert is a lot more talented,  but I'd rather have Herbert over Burrow as my QB.

Not to say I'd be sad with either, Hebert has just done a lot with a little and come in clutch multiple times.

The regular season final where he converted multiple 4th down after multiple 4th down, and the following year where he made an absolute pristine pass with broken ribs solidified his status for me.

I don't really follow either Herbert or Burrow, except in the playoffs. And I guess I am judging them off what I have seen in the playoffs, and I have seen Burrow more. In fairness Herbert was drafted by one of the worst run franchises in the league. If Harbaugh can unfuck that organization, then we can see what Herbert is capable of.

That's been my gut feeling on Burrow as well. Granted I have no facts, nothing to back up my feelings. I have just ranked NFL QBs 1-Mahomes and 2-Burrow. No intended slight on Allen or Herbert.  Not a fan of Jackson simply because he isn't an efficient thrower of the forward pass, which is pretty important for playing QB in the modern NFL. Lamar is an excellent RB that can throw the ball. Lamar is a smaller, quicker, more talented Cam Newton. IMO Lamar has 2 more years or so in the league as a starter. He will then bounce around as a backup, then be out early, just as Newton is.

So for me

1 Mahomes
2 Burrow
3 Purdy ( would like to see 1 more year at this level)
4 Tua if healthy
5 Allen
6 Herbert
7 Rodgers ( tentatively, depending if he comes back to form )
8 Prescott
9 Stafford
10 Hurts

Really nothing to back it up except my gut

Mahomes

Herbert
Burrow
Purdy
Prescott
Stroud
Cousins
Stafford
Jackson

I cant rank Rodgers at this time since it's been a minute.
