Awesome pics! It's cool to see things from insiders' perspective. I am in the process of enlisting as an 11X and should be down at Ft. Benning by late Summer.
BlackRifleRecon, I'm curious about something on your MRAP. I see some of them have those large curved tubes/railings coming up on the sides from front to back. What are those? From less detailed pictures, I thought they were large antennas of some sort, but I can't figure it out. Any insight much appreciated. |

he's got it. they will just run extention cords from roof top to roof top, wires and cords everywhere. and especialy with these taller vehicles the pipes "wire metagation" are needed to protect the gunner from getting caught and pulled right ot of the vehicle. theres been a few times that the wires are so droopy that the hung down between the pipes and smacked me in the kevlar. but for the most part they work. Good luck on your enlistment!! I've never worked with a greater GROUP of people than when attached to SF, last deployment.

The ones on my Maxxpro was held in place by 2x4's.... which turned out to be too tall for the overpasses in Mosul. We went under the one before the hospital on Route Saab and I hear these ungodly sound of something crashing, so I check my six thinking something might have blown up on me, only to have to duck out of the way of PVC piping with broken 2x4 flying around at me. Fuckers swung around the entire mission, from Mosul to the Turkish border.... |
