My drill sergeant had been deployed three times as combat arms, had a scar down the length of his face from a bullet wound, and was no-shit bi polar. That's how they are supposed to be.

Kind of shitty after everything that happened down there. I know they closed down Restrepo too. We kept in contact with FOB Tillman though. They gave us Artillery support. One of their OPs, OP 4, was the closest coalition to us, and they were about 15 clicks away. We talked with them several times a day because of all the enemy movement around us. They got attacked whenever we didn't. |

My son has been there for 2 months awaiting to be deployed to FOB Kunduz. The wife and I are still waiting for pictures. He's an IT guy with the largest Defense Contractor over there. He's just waiting for a seat on a Blackhawk, military has priority over civilians. He says there are no civilians at this FOB and he may end up being the only one. Anybody been there? Just wondering what it's like. How safe it is.
Thanks guys for your service and pictures too. If any of you are ever in Ontario,Calif. and looking for something to do, please stop by my Firehouse and ride out with myself and my crew. We'll go on some calls and have fun. Dinner's on us. Stay Safe |

Stay Safe Was at Kunduz last week. Not bad actually as FOBs go. Lots of security there. He should be relatively safe. About as safe as any of us are over here. He's in good hands so dont worry. I was surprised at how good the food was there. Better than Eggers. Best of luck to your son. |

Well...just got an email from him this morning.
<major edit of possible Opsec info> My wife is worried but he seems ok. I've been emailing him everyday now. There really isn't much I can do but that and pray for everyone over there. Stay Safe Rick Rick, I've edited your post over concerns of Opsec...time, effect, first responder actions, etc. I've sent you an IM to explain my actions, also. TimJ

TimJ Dont worry, and dont read the papers. They blow things way out of proportion to sell more papers. This is a big country and even here in Kabul, something could be happening a mile down the road, and we may not even know about it here. I wont lie to you and say its completely safe here, but we go through many, many measures to ensure everyone's safety. He'll be back home before you know it. |
