Call me crazy, but I like the Mil-spec type better do you have any pictures of the ~$400 Rock Islands? or the SA Milspec variety (do you even carry them "cheap ones"?) I want a basic looking one for a ERA correct gun (can you IM ballpark prices - Looking for general idea) Thanks
|

We dont carry Rock Island, but we usually have one or two Milspec or GI models in at any given time. Sometimes Colt, sometimes Springfield, sometimes both. There should be a few of them pictured throughout this thread.
Im sorry, but the shop only does storefront sales. The new Les Baer is in, but I'll wait until there is a few more to show before posting new pics. There's a big S&W/Crimson Trace promo coming up this weekend. Should be a lot happening and a lot of 1911's to see! |

A lot more 1911's in this weekend!!! Many of them arent ours and several of them werent sold from here, but folks were generous enough to let me snap some pics for the thread! Thanks!
First is our owners own Kimber, I cant remember the model!!! Its a Stainless something or other from their Custom Shop. S&W is here this weekend doing a promo, so I got a few pics of their guns he brought for people to shoot. This one is an exclusive through a distributor. Very fancy work on this. Another S&W 1911PD with rail. With a scandium frame, even the government size is pretty lightweight. This is a commander size, scandium frame with factory installed tan Crimson Trace laser grips. I'm sure I pictured one of these earlier, but here's a fairly well used model the smith guy brought. Still looking good. Also here with S&W are reps from Crimson Trace. Dave has been our Crimson Trace rep for a while now and stops in once or twice a year to see if there's anything he can do to help us market their grips. He's another 1911 guy. Last time I saw him he was toting a Kimber CDP. At the time, I think I had just gotten my Nighthawk. He was excited to tell me he had recently ordered his own. This is his cutom Talon. All hard chrome, stippled MSH, front strap and front of trigger guard. Of course, its wearing a pair of Crimson Trace Burlwood grips! Here's a rare and precious gem! Its a very hard to find Colt 1911-B1 (B stands for blue!). So rare and elusive you wont even find this in the Blue Book of Gun Values!!! If they ever publish one, you may find it in the Book of Blue Gun Values though! My camera doesnt even want to take a good picture of this! One of our employees won this at a local match. Not only is it a Taurus 1911, but its wearing Houge grips. 2 of my least favorite things. Young competitors Dawson 38Super race gun. I've never heard anyone shoot a handgun so fast as this guy shoots this. He's about 15 or 16 years old, something like that. He usually hits the target too! And his dad's Kimber CDP. We didnt sell either of the above two guns, and I think I heard him taling about work thats been done to it, but I didnt hear well enough to say what it was. SGB's nephew is looking to sell his Ed Brown Kobra, so this is in the shop for sale. In addition to the standard grips, he's got a pretty high end pair of ESMERALDA GRIPS as well. Their double diamond Ebony grips with a boarder. Pretty nice. With stock grips: And with Esmeralda's grips; Thats it for today... |

Lots of stuff selling this weekend, especially Kimber. TLE, Gold Match, and Pro Covert all left. That all Black Nighthawk Talon is gone as well as the tan GRP. Come to think of it, every Nighthawk we had is gone except the new Dominator...
Time for some new stuff!!! |

Kimber Aegis came in yesterday, Stainless Colt Gold Cup and Springfield EMP should be here tomorrow. I see I never did take a pic of that new Les Baer Concept VII that came in. I got a pic of one of our customers Kimber Anniversary gun as well. There may be a few more in the camera too. When the Colt comes in tomorrow, I'll get some more pics up.

Trying not to be too much of a business interruption. I know you've got paying customers to deal with instead of some guy who just wants to drool on the $2000 1911s.
I have a question or two for you, I'll IM you in a little while. |

We all liked it too. In person it looked a lot nicer than we had imagined when we were talking about getting it done. We tried some French Walnut grips on the gun, and it was a relatively close match to the tan on the slide. Mark does some pretty whicked work. He Nightstalker revolvers are pretty amazing too! www.geminicustoms.com/ |

Great Shop! Good people. I am so happy my In-laws live in Jax. Was at the Gun Gallery 2 weeks ago and spent about 3hours or more there. Where else can you rent a Nighthawk or Wilson Combat? I bought that SA TRP Operator with the adjustable night sites and it shot way better than the Nighthawk In my opinion.but so did my Kimber Pro carry. Great Staff, fair pricing and fair on trade ins. Next time my Rock river is getting some love and attention. I will be back. P.S. the mags for that p-226 I traded in are on the way.

I like the grips on the TLE/RL SS...and would like to see more and hear where they came from BUT This is a thread for the "Gun Gallery" which is a gun store...not like a photo gallery for anyone to post pics. In respect, I think you should re-post your pics on your own thread. |

How much experience do you have with Rock River 1911s? Specifically the basic carry model. I'm thinking that might be my next gun. Then another one so I can have a spare.

I'm going to need a moment alone..........

I'm sorry to say I have no experience with the RRA's. Fwiw, I have heard nothing but great things about them and plan to carry one or two at some point. Were already a rra dealer for their rifles. Orfring a pistol is never more than a call away. But with requests from customers wanting to see this or that model from nighthawk, Wilson, baer or brown, it always seems to get put off.
Sorry for the delay in getting the new pics up! A new sa milspec parkreized came in and sold before ever hitting the shelf (man Springfield really has something going with those guns!) so I have a shot of that one too. A guy came in with a rock island and I pointed out our grip selection. He hated the incredibly plain and zero texture of the stock wood grips. After a lot of deliberation he chose the double diamond houges. Tuna asked if I was going to take a pic of it too. I declined. |
