You are a god. |

100K Plus? What ever for? It's not an investment, you'll never shoot that much if SHTF, its just pointless and a waste. 10K OK, even 20-30K Maybe but 100K
My thoughts exactly. Unless he plans on 22lr quintupling in price in the next decade. |
I just did a nice side job and converted part of the proceeds to .22. I added another 12,000 to the stores and got a nice start on the 2nd 40mm can. With my new work schedule I don't get to range nearly as much as I used to but I still buy/load just as much or more ammo. Thus, the pile grows. What I'm going to need soon is more .50 ammo cans. I picked up a punch at Numrich Arms a while back and a crate of 20 off EGay but those are about full. I also picked up a couple more die sets for new calibers so I need to work up practice loads and get going on those as well. I'm also waiting for the supply of the new Ruger LCP to show up at shops and then I'll need to start reloading .380. It's a never-ending cycle. Good thing I got that whole ADD thing worked out. |

Uh oh...I have around 35k of .22 I hope I didn't buy too much? Of course, I can burn through 550 rounds pretty darn fast.
Some people shoot more than others. My family can easily shoot up 5000 rounds of 22 in a month; my kids love to plink. What's wrong with having a deep supply? I paid ~ $120/case deliverd for the last 30K rounds of decent subsonic 22 I bought. What's the going price on it now?. |
Lets say a SHTF was economic, everybody on there own. That 22LR would make some excellent trading stock wouldn't it? If he can afford it what does it hurt? I have 12K and wish I had 120K. |
I can finally post in this thread because I picked up a 10/22 today. Got 2100 rds as well.
About a tenth of what I'd like to have in order to produce that warm fuzzy feeling.
i had less than 1k then i went on this mission now i have around 6k
federal bulk packs are 11.97$ here so, i'll be getting more as soon as they re-stock |
Not much. less than 1K. Just not a very usefull caliber for my purposes. If i lived someplace rural it would be. But in my current situation 5.56mm, 7.62, 00 buck & 9mm are what i stock up on.
I only have about 4k rounds.
Going to get back in the habit of picking up 500 rounds every time I go to the funstore. I also bought a pellet rifle for when I run out of 22. Have about 2k pellets for it. |
exactly. i fail to see why it wouldn't be an investment? if things go bad, then there's going to be people who have .22 rifles, but no where near enough ammo. and what does it matter if you shoot the whole thing? pass it on to your kids/grandkids. i have about 1.5k of .22. plan is to add 500 to 1k/mo of .22. |

or there's a lot of stuff that just needs shootin'. |

I just got above 12K this weekend. I have at least 7800 in Federal automatch, easily the best bulk ammo I have tried. Every one of my rifles and all of my extended families rifles love the stuff. Its the only round I can say that for.
I have a paltry 3500 rounds of wolf MT and ME, and another 2 or 3K of testing ammo of various types and brands. Unfortunately, this won't last long since I am shooting alot this year. |
that's less 22 than is in this picture, but his sure looks more impressive |
And I felt good because I added 6 more boxes of Federal bulk pac to the BOL.
im worthless |
I have a WHOLE lot less right now than this time yesterday!
Took 3 of the kids to the range for their regular rifle club practice yesterday afternoon, then afterwards, we broke out the 10/22s and BURNED IT UP! I borrwoed an extra brick from a buddy after we shot up all ours, then started looking in the truck console, door panels, under seat etc I'm almost down to my threshold level of 10K, but will fix that soon. |
For those that wonder why you should keep a lot of 22 on hand; over the holiday weekend my son and one of his friends burned up almost 3000 rounds of 22 ( along with a case of 20 ga and four cases of clay birds).
Buy it cheap, stack it deep |
I bought another 7k this week at Wal-Mart. Now I just need to get it out of the car.
I would venture I have about 10K of .22lr. I'll have more soon...
-Mark! |
Hey, thats my stash, saves me the trouble of looking up the URL to post it. Thanks! That is just my Federal stash awaiting the arrival of my spikes upper. I do have about 5,000 rounds of other ammunition also. |
I had to find my .xls of ammo inventory. Let's see, 22LR?
37.5K |
I found a Federal Bulk pack on the road yesterday...had about 75 rounds in it. FREE AMMO!!!!
I've got between 4k and 5k. My goal is at least 10k, I buy some about once a week or so of the Federal bulk pack at the local Wally Mart. After that I'll probably keep buying, or my switch to something else.

just got my ciener .22lr upper yesterday and picked up 12.5k more rounds! woot!
I've got over 12k in 5.45 & x54 , now I need to work on catchin up th .22's.
Just about 8k, give or take 550. All Federal bulk packs from Wal-Mart, my 39a loves that stuff.
Got a question, kinda OT but still on 22lr, how do you store yours? In the cardboard boxes inside a ammo can, or dump it all into a ammo can? |
About 38k now and I keep all of it in it's original cardboard boxes and then pack in special aluminum boxes that I manufacture at work.(sheet metal business)
Keeping it in it's cardboard box makes it easier to sell if you had to.Also easier to take to the range. |
