Hey Guys,
Mid system was most likely chosen due to excessive gas while a can was onboard with carbine gas system. Both Ross and I fired many rounds through the ACR's at the silencer shoot and expressed concern about the gas problem. Since both 100 and 101 were the first to be released i would guess that the mid system was a partial solution to the problem. Exposed as it is, the moe style handguard covers the gas block when installed. Remember, the rails for the market rifles are still up in the air at this time. Im sure Remington did the mid system to prevent any negative feedback as both guns were supplied with a can and were sure to be fired suppressed. I fired over 500 rounds at the shoot and can tell you that the gun fires as per requirements. While it is has gas problems the mid system should solve that problem. However, a 16" carbine M16 still gasses more that the acr while in full auto. In my opinion anyway. Also, the ACR's at the shoot were a one select gas system while the 100 and 101 guns have a suppressed and non suppressed selector. Would love to tell you how it shoots, but im waiting to decide on the guns future still. |

Why no flip up front sight?
On all the newer pictures I see it's not on the ACR like it was at first. |

I couldn't agree more, I can't think of anything more heartbreaking than if bushmaster was to price this rifle north of $2000. Just because FN did it with the SCAR doesn't mean everybody else has to follow like lap dogs. Remember, FN is the company that basically takes a $650 browning BAR semi auto hunting rifle, paints it black, adds a pistol grip stock, and calls it a $1600 tactical .308 sniper rifle. Ridiculous |

Regarding the pricing and the practice that some retailers have of gouging at the introduction of a new, highly-anticipated rifle. Many of us have seen this before. I know nothing about pricing from Bushmaster or Remington. Simmer, Pot Roast. |

i sure hope they don't go that route, it hasn't proven to be a very successful marketing approach as of late, example the same LWRC REPR's that have been on gunbroker for weeks now at crazy prices not selling. While i do think this rifle is cool and ill buy one (if its reasonably priced) i personally do not consider this rifle "ground breaking". After reading about it and handling one at SHOT this rifle does absolutely nothing my Robinson XCR cant do. Just MHO.

that comment was pretty much aimed at not just bushmaster but also the resellers, anything you do to help sell a product is "marketing" even if your just one person

Like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/05/Magpul_masada_16fde.jpg I want this standard, original version too, I have no need to quad rail everywhere, Bushmaster/Remington/Magpul (whoever) needs to focus on releasing this, there will be about 50+ companies that will release aftermarket parts for the ACR on the same day that it is released, because as we all know there is no single configuration that can satisfy everyone from the real men in the sandbox to the airsofters. And honestly the first smooth FF handguard they showed (like the one above) is just plain sexy. I am betting that the Bushmaster countdown is just another countdown to more release information, I am calling shenanigans on the actual release, call me a downer, but after the past few years, I have actually given up hope, that is not the same as saying that I dont want one, I want one just as much as the next guy/gal. |

So according to the email I just got from Bushmaster, March of 2010 is when they'll hit the streets?
It's also showing the different length barrels (10, 14.5, 16, 18) all having car-length gas systems, so maybe there's hope for putting on whatever AR barrel you want (as long as it's car length gas?). |

Stick, I'd love to hear your opinion on this ACR debacle. Since you do photography for Magpul, is their any kind of inside info that you could be obliged to share?
If not, your opinion alone would still be much appreciated. Jared |

Civilian sales May 1st. I handled one today here in Alabama at Hoover Tactical Firearms. So if you're in the Birmingham area ease on over and they will let you fondle it. Pretty decent rifle. I wasn't overly impressed, but I will hold off all judgment until someone buys one and lets me run some rounds through it. Cause $2700 is a bit out of my price range. |

Very unhappy with what bushmaster did with this weapon. 2,600 for the basic model is crazy. Good luck selling those, I wont stock any. And I won't stock the advanced model either. They better re-think the price, and set it closer to Magpul's figures.

You do realize that the average price is around 2100 right? 2600 is the MSRP, they are selling for just over dealer price now... |
