New to suppressors and I have been trying to find a for sure answer about this.

I would like to hear from someone who has both a 223/556 and a 30 cal suppressor that has shot the 556 through the 30 cal.

I would like to know how much louder the 556 was through the 30cal can then the 22cal can.

I want both suppressors but I am trying to decide which to purchase first. If I can use the 30 cal on the 556 and be happy with it for a while until I buy the other.

Sorry if this is asked every week or month, I did a few search's with no results. I will own both one day, just trying to spend my cash where I get the most use from it.

Ive shot a yhm 556 and a yhm 308 can side by side on two identical 16" AR15s they sound about the same to me I prefer the 308 can over the 556 can as it didn't seem to have a ring to it like the 556 can did.

I never tried my 308 can on the 223. Because, I have both cans. Though, it should work very well.  If you are on a budget, this is a very good idea and will work well.  However you cant shoot any 223 unless its subsonic, through a .22LR can or it will explode.

(I'm sure he meant .223, not 22)

I have both the 556 and 762 YHM QD cans.  The 762 sounds just fine on .223,  it'll be fine.  Especially if you're gonna buy both.  That way you get to use all you're hosts right now before you acquire the second can.

The only real downside is the larger girth.

cheers, Benji

Haven't tried one of the 308 cans Dan builds yet but his 5.56,9mm and 45 cans are sure pleasant to the ears.  if you get a chance shoot his integral sterling I was really impressed with it.

Here's  a little demo we filmed to help with that exact question.

And here'a vid of me shooting my .30 cal SAS can on my AC556.  It's big and heavy for the .223, but it's hearing safe, even on the short barrel.

I also shoot it on an 18" AR as well as a 20" FN PBR .308.  All of them are hearing safe.  I've fired a couple hundred rounds out of each in a day with no ear plugs.
