Or so the web says, it's at least a year overdue.
There's supposed to be some new gameplay, but mainly an update to run on newer equipment; PC and both consoles. |
I've been waiting for this to play it again. But it took too long and I really didn't think they were going to do it.
Man... I used to do a LOT of extensive modding in Fo4, but I took a break a few years ago.
Tried to play again recently, and it crashes on startup. (I'm sure it is because of something updating and interfering with a mod, but I don't know if I am up to the daunting task of going through and figuring it out. |
I'd prefer it if Bethesda just left the game alone and not break all the mods.
I'm going to need a new tv now
Looked amazing on my XSX, had to turn on FPS mode just to run it smoothly. Dang it's going to look sparkly as heck. |
Looking forward to seeing this next gen

I only got 14 hours into it last year. Decided my time was better spent completing all achievements in FO:NV instead. Maybe I'll give it a shot when the giant patch hits and breaks everyone's mods.

I never finished FO4 so I started a new game after the show. I'm running a 49" Ultrawide monitor and was sad to find that I can't used the whole screen.
I started a new play through a few weeks ago, I'm going to disable the update until I figure out how bad it fucks up the mods.

Anyone in the middle of a modded playthrough might want to take measures to prevent the update from installing and making their current modded save unplayable.
How to PREVENT the Fallout 4 Next Gen Update |

Is the new update worth anything? I don't run any mods, Xbox Series X. Is the update all graphics based, or there additional quests/story, etc? I'm all for a replay, it's been a while since I've played FO4.
I've got a ton of mods running right now on the PS5 version with no issues so far. My problem was when I loaded the game after the update it said all the dlc was outdated and wouldn't work with the update and asked if I wanted to erase them and re download the updated versions. I opted to get the new versions of the dlc's and after the old versions were deleted I went to the Playstation store and was informed I had to re-purchase the season pass for $37 in order to download the updated dlc content. That is B.S. and Bethesda needs to reimburse me for that shit.

Now I'm about 8~12 hours into a new playthrough that I can't get into lol. Guess I'll be waiting for script extender to get fixed. |

I'm only running a basic few mods (on PC), so far everything is still working after the update. Messed around for about 45 minutes and everything looks stable. I was expecting to be pissed because I started a new play through a couple of weeks ago and and up to level 50.

Should I buy base version for $20 or the ultimate edition for $40?
I own this fur Xbox but would be on PC this time. |

The GOTY addition gets you all the DLCs for $40 which saves you $30 if bought separately. IMHO it's worth it, I have over 700 hours in game (I know, still a noob compared to many), I've definitely gotten more than $40 entertainment out of it.

It looks amazing and it plays perfectly. I loved F4 so I'm doing a new playthrough.

Damn...
That download took hours I also downloaded Nuka Cola but for some reason I can't launch it. Anyone else having issues? |
1 hour into the game and I get blown up with a mini-nuke.
2 hours into the game it happened again! Well, I accidentally discovered that the city of Concorde is not a friendly place when you are level 5 and don't really have any good guns. |

I started playing it again, because of the update.
I am playing on the PS5 and everything seems smoother. It’s been awhile since I played it, so I could be wrong. However, it does seem very smooth, no issues. I think the graphics are more detailed, but that could be because I read something about the graphics being better. |

View Quote make sure to put it on performance mode on ps5 to get 60fps. Its under settings and gameplay I believe. If you dont see it its because you downloaded the ps4 and not the ps5 version. |

The update has gave me a vats issue rendering it worthless.
It constantly says 0% chance when it should have some sort of chance. |

Downloading now.
Fallout fever in high pitch. |

I had noticed the graphics look a bit better but didn’t notice an improvement in overall smoothness so I looked up online and found that info and realized that I had downloaded the ps4 version, so then I to re-download the ps5 version. |

I did find a trick that makes steam no longer see it as being installed so it won't update on me. Supposedly it can still be launched via the script extender. To reiterate, I’m playing on the PS5 and it’s all been positive for me.
I noticed the controller changes color when I hit the PIP Boy light. That’s cool. I also got a Portal this weekend and it played flawlessly. |

My PC game with about 65 mods is an older one I started early last year, once I got the updated F4SE it’s running fine with a few new quest.
I deleted my game and Re uploaded it from GOG which saved all my progress, didn’t know if it’d work but it did. All my mods are fine according to LOOT, and I’ve not had any problems other than slow screen loads, but that’s always been a Bugthesda trademark. This. I did find a trick that makes steam no longer see it as being installed so it won't update on me. Supposedly it can still be launched via the script extender. View Quote You can do the ghosting trick, but eventually Steam will brick your game, and ALWAYS launch from SE, if you don’t and instead launch from the steam site it will auto update. Better to get the GOG version which removes the DRMs and allows you to play without fear of updates unless you want them. Did the same with my Skyrim SE after their first cluster. |

Well the newest update gave me a different bug.
Shooting at enemies now sometimes deals no damage. I can be point blank with them filling my entire screen and deal no damage where I usually one shot them with the overseer's guardian. Xbox series x |
Hu, that’s a weird bug.
Is your game a disc or download? Do you have any mods? Does VATS still work? Is it all guns or just one? Does melee damage still work? Do you have old saves from before this happened? Have you used any toggle commands? |

View Quote No mods Vats seems fixed from last update where it would rapidly toggle between true percentages and zero percent. Are there any other guns worth using I haven't tried meleeing since the update No saves, the auto save constantly fills up my slots and I have to go delete them all. I don't know what a toggle command is. |

One big thing is never trust auto saves, always do a manual and delete the autos.
Manual saves are not as finicky and don’t tend to self delete like auto saves can. Also, be sure to save a few from a day or so before, that way if you do have an issue you can go back to a previous save before the problem existed and try to find out what went wrong, sometimes just going to a future quest spot and clearing it will disable that quest when it comes up. Also, I was reading up on your issue and it seems quickly switching in VATS can cause that problem. It seems it will default the target box to a point under the target causing your rounds to hit way low. As for different guns, I always upgrade whenever possible, either from scavenging kills or from various gunshops like the ones in Diamond City. Once you get your gunsmith perks you can upgrade/mod and build your own. I do use mods so I have some seriously overpowered weapons, my Mossberg will one shot kill anything in the game after I upgraded it, from Deathclaws to Mirelurk Queens, to Giant Hermit Crabs. Even Swan was a one shot kill. Attached File |

I generally only use vats to see if that ghoul is dead or not or maybe for hard to hit stuff like stingwings.
I love fallout, I just started replaying since the update and have probably logged 40+ hours already |
If you haven’t tried it, you’ll like Skyrim as well, instead of guns you hack and slash your way through.
If you like shooter FP games the Far Cry series is great too. |

I played Skyrim in VR. It was amazing. I tried farcry instincts and didn't like it. I actually 100%ed fallout 3 on Xbox achievements, 1750/1750. I have hundreds of hours in that one.
