Watching this on my comp right now.  The Jackal sprays something on the handle of his van.  A few seconds after the Canadian thug touched the handle, he started foaming from the mouth and collapsed into convulsions.

Is this just a movie thing?

It's a movie thing.  First thing I thought though was VX nerve agent.

But where's a millionaire assassin with ties to the Russian mob going to get VX?

I liked that movie a lot.

Its on contact killing spray, you can buy it but you have to be an assassin and provide a copy of your assassin permit.

Good Lord that is a scary thought.  Throw in a little Eau de Albright and you'd damn near kill the fucker.

I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure there's stuff out there that if you touch it you could die.  Look at the poison dart frog:

chemweb.calpoly.edu/chem/bailey/377/PapersF2000/Caroline/

These brightly colored creatures of bright golden yellow, golden orange, or pale metallic green exude four steroid toxins from their skin, one of them being among the most toxic substances known to man-- batrachotoxin. Even handling one of these beautiful creatures could put your life in jeopardy.(2)

Batrachotoxin is stronger than curare (another arrow poison used among South American Indians derived from plants of the genera Strychnos and Curarea) and ten times more potent than tetrodotoxin from the puffer fish. The estimated lethal dose for this non-protein poison in humans is somewhere between 2-200 µg.(2)

animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Phyllobates_bicolor.html

Scientists believe that the skin toxins of Phyllobates bicolor are so toxic that .0000004 ounces may be enough to kill a human being. Toxins from these frogs work quickly, attacking the nerves and muscles. Nerve cells can no longer transmit impulses and muscle cells remain in an activated, contracted state. The result is death by respiratory or muscular paralysis (Badger et al, 1995).

Now imagine that stuff in the hands of some geek who never sees the outside of a lab.    I'd bet some scientist some where has already made something like you've seen in the movie.

It was hairspray, and the guy who touched it was allergic to it (obviously).

Apropos of nothing, and it wouldn't work in this case because it would probably have dried before the target touched it...

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) will carry anything soluble in it right through the skin.  Available from your local Tractor Supply or veterinary supply.
