Had something to do with having good times on the back roads of Nevada with a Glock 21, any source to that?
Miss you Art, we need you now more then ever. Repurposing this thread for story you have about Art or that you had while listen to the program. |

I actually heard him say this on a rerun a couple of nights ago…he was talking about his preference to driving at night and that his companions was a glock

Found a thread where someone said they were in a discussion that Heather Wayde was in and Heather said it was a suicide. There was supposedly a note. He was having an affair with Heather and his wife found out. They covered up the suicide for the press. Also his constant back pain was another factor. Does kind of explain why Heather lost her shit so bad about the whole thing... No proof just he said she said but does make sense. |

According to this interview, he kept a Glock 22. It seems likely, as .40 cal was still pretty popular.

I was never into it, but had it on in the car one night 15 or 20 years ago, and the dude he was talking to used a classified word on the air (incorrectly).

Man do I miss Art, started listening at a very young age on road trips with my dad.
I got on the air with him twice: First time I was in high school and mentioned it on the air. He was shocked I was up so late and we chatted until the commercial break. Last time was during the 2004 presidential election. He had a line open up to talk about how easy or hard it was to vote (or some kind of voting-related line if I remember correctly) because people were saying it was crazy and being denied ballot left and right so I called in with my experience. Cool guy, quite an honor to say I was on the air with him twice. Interesting note. Someone found me on Facebook asking if I was the same plumber576 that called in to Coast to Coast on XX/XX/XX date. They were listening to old episodes on YouTube and my call caught their attention. They had a follow-up question for me from my call-in. It was eye-opening how easy it was for a random stranger across the country with just a first name, city, and approximate age can find someone. |

I loved listening to Coast to Coast growing up.
I'd stay up late to listen and usually fell asleep to it most nights. Art had a great voice for radio. I got into Amateur Radio in my early teens, and remember hearing him having QSO's on the ham radio bands, there was no mistaking that voice. I actually live in his neighborhood, and pass his QTH almost daily. I can see his antenna array from my property in the Kingdom of Nye. He's buried in our local cemetery. RIP W60BB. |

Hoagland wasn’t bad but was something of a blowhard… Granted, all story tellers with little nuggets of truth…but something to pad the time for sure |

I got on the air once when the northern lights were hitting Nevada.
I was in northern Montana and driving at the time. It was quite wild. |

My buddy was a dispatcher in his town. He spoke with him often. Especially towards the end of his life. He said Mr Bell was always a very nice guy. Crazy-loon, but very nice.

I use to work overnights and listened to Art all the time.
I remember he said he had a Glock 23 and liked to drive around, at night with it. GNoory has completely ruined Coast Coast and has turned it into a vitamin/snakeoil commercial. There are two guys I wish were still with us, Art and Rush. |

There might be some rule against doing that, in case they are carried by the same station. As Rush was a conservative, Art was more libertarian. |

Growing up in Florida, I did a lot of night jobs at the various tourist attractions.
I was a sandblaster/painter, so we had to work through the night when the parks were closed. I listened to Art Bell every night on those jobs. It was a strange experience to say the least. You are inside those parks, absolutely alone in the middle of the night listening to Art and all his crazy guests, all the while the strange atmospheric park music is playing throughout the park (they never turn off the music). It was a fun time, and I'll always have a great memory or Art on those long night time jobs. I still listen to him occasionally. I have a few hundered episodes of "Coast to Coast" and his newer show saved on my phone. |
|
|
I enjoyed him talking to Madman Marcum.

i forget his guest, but it was a lady who was saying earth was the insane asylum of the universe and bad souls were sent here to be rehabilitated

Don't ask me how I did it. I just did it, it was hard...

Art spoke of Rush during 9/11 , his heath scare in Hawaii , and when Rush was losing his hearing . I can remember these off the top of my head . |

I gave up trying to post links , but Archive.org has a lot of Art Bell shows archived that you can listen to for free . I usually fall asleep at night listening to them . Another member here had it in a thread once . Think I found it by searching 9/11 Art Bell show . Edit to correct myself should be Archive.org .
