Someone had a great idea in a different thread. Send President Bush a SEBR as a gift from the faithful at arfcom.
So how about it? post your thoughts. Maybe we could even get a tack? |
I'll wait until he repeals (or forwards a single pro-) gun law.
I'd donate.
I'll also nominate Edward Avila Sr. to present it to him. |
He could/would never accept a rifle as a gift. It's just not (politically) possible. The shotgun "given" to SKerry as a "gift" was just a political prop--a sham to confuse the gullible, nothing more. A sincere gesture like this just can't be done. Excellent idea though!
I'd donate as well if it was possible.
Can you imagine the photo? |
so, say it cost 1200 bucks.
at 20 bucks each we'd need 60 people to donate... eta: maybe someone could write Laura Bush and ask her if it would be possible. That seems to me to be the best way to keep it a surprise for the Pres while finding out the feasability of the project... |
TBK, this was our presidents last race. I dont think it will matter politically what type of gift he receives. Im already in!!! |
Okay, please contact his people and let us know what their response is. I will donate if he will accept it. |
If the President wouldn't accept one, Cheney sure as hell would. If he'd stoop to owning a semi.
LOL, How the hell do I contact "His People"????? |
+1 or closes the borders or cancels the prescription drug programs or fixes the social security system or reduces federal spending and the size of the .gov or implements real changes in the income tax system Bush was the better choice of the 2. But not by all that much. He got my vote soley because he seems to be a man of conviction. you may not agree with him but he has the balls to make a stand for what he feels is right. That i can respect. mike |
A MUCH better idea, IMO--with a full explanation of who we are and how hard we worked on his behalf. |
OK, who made those. We would need a new run on them, maybe a redesign..... |
How would it be delivered?????? And also I would like to see a pro-gun movement, repeal especially. I will definitely consider throwing in I just want to know it's possible first!!!
Hahaha, that would be the day! |
You really want all those G-men at gunstock? |
I'm in if it is possible for him to accept. Please confirm and let us know.
Have your people contact them, dummy. |
The feds don't like it when you have more firepower... even if you are on their side... |
It is legally possible for him to accept.
The only restrictions on the value of gifts to the president is from foreign sources. This would be a domestic gift, and therefore perfectly legal. |
yeah, especially if they can share their toys. I'll bring extra ammo...... |
He will never accept a rifle!
We should present him with an ARFCOM Plaque or some other gift. BTW: I'm in |
I count over a dozen confirmed pitcher inners...
come on guys, lets get this done! |
I'm in for either or both. Why not send the coin with a note & photo of the rifle saying it's his if he wants it, and he doesn't have to get a picture taken with it?
I believe Bush has already accepted several weapons in his last term. I am all for giving him a rifle. Someone find out if he'll accept it. i'm in for at least $100.
Dude, WE are his people. |
I like how you guys are all giddy with Kerry losing and shit, but W will win a third term as POTUS before he's seen smiling in a picture with an EBR. It's gonna be all about "the healing" now.
Put down the pipe. |
Imagine all the cool shit he'd bring for us to shoot! |
i might be able to talk to some people who can give me an answer. however, i need to know if this is something that is going to definately be done and if you're absolutely serious about it. whoever is in charge send me a PM and let me know one way or another.

Very cool. Springfield Armory gave a pair of engraved pistols to Tommy Franks. He posed with them in the NRA magazine. |

I would contribute if it were for a rifle.
Its configuration should be as scary as possible. If the mere SIGHT of it gives Feinstein and Schumer a stroke or heart attack instantly, it's about right! However it ends up being configured, it should definitely be set up for the maximum fun factor. It would have to have: A pistol grip and be capable of accepting a high capacity magazine. A flash hider A grenade launcher (Above flash hider qualifies) A bayonet lug A collapsible stock It should include: A flattop upper with included detachable carry handle, and flip-up front post sight. A good, "fast" optic, the type of which is open to debate. Should be pre-zeroed for the rifle. The lower should have commemorative markings of course, but it shouldn't be overdone, as the intent is to deliver a rifle that WILL be used and not just hung on the wall or left in the safe. For example, getting the Presidential Seal engraved on the side of the mag well is POSSIBLE, but I would not recommend it as it's too much ornamentation for a shooter. It will instantly be a curio the moment it's accepted. Its collector's value will be very high, eventually. It should be presented by a delegation of maybe three Arfcommers who are selected by first declaring a desire to do it and then are voted on by the membership. Take it for granted that one of those slots belongs to Ed Avila, Sr. if he wants it. It would be optimal if it could be arranged for the rifle to be delivered on Inauguration Day. Or, what's Bush's birthday? CJ |

The AWB died and not one single piece of firearm legislation was signed into law on his watch. Can't say that for previous administrations. If I'm not mistaken, don't most gifts go into some kind of Presidential museum? I'm in for $25 IF we can make it an honest to goodness presentation and not some token. |
Sure....as long as they bring their subguns and cases of ammo. |
+1. I'm in. CW |
I'm definitely IN.
As a caution, whoever takes charge in this must be careful giving/sending a rifle and the approach used - wouldn't want the SS getting concerned and getting the wrong message. All protocols must be followed to the tee. Better yet, why not try for a quick ceremony to present him the gift in person? Possible? And I agree if not Mr. Bush, then certainly Cheney - point is we make the point of showing what all this means to us, because after all, it would be the armed citizens that would cover them when all else fails. |
