Geez... too many good ones out there. But I'll vote X-Wing because it's so sweet.
Gotta add the one from Last Starfighter as well as the ship from the Buck Rogers TV show. |
Whatever the Cylons had in the original Battlestar Gallactica series.
Dude, with inertial dampeners the physics of actual thrust vectors and accelleration would not necessarily apply as viewed visually. I vote for the Colonial Viper.
While the vipers are pretty neat looking, and who can argue with the stylings of the x-wing, my other vote would go for almost anything from the Wing Commander series (not the terrible movie).
I like the X-Wing because it looks beat up and real.
The new Vipers because they do space flight right. I wonder if Earth will ever field space fighters. |
Viper Mark VII... the ones in the new series with the computer glitch.
Mark IIs look like shit. |
Install a laser blaster on the Spaceship Columbia and we have one. |
Hands down, Vipers (both those from the original and new series) The "reverse" function was something that had never been seen before (as well as uber-cool). Sleek, wicked looking, big engines and small cockpits scream "Your ass is toast" to see one coming at you.
As for most realistic, that would be a StarFury. One (of many) things that JMS got dead-on was microgravity and spacecraft physics. But I still have a very special place in my heart for the Starfighters from "Buck Rogers". *THOSE* were cool looking beasts. |
Kinda hard to do when the tens-of-thousands of pieces of its wreckage is in storage at the VAB. |

If you guys think this is geeky now, if the Viper wins we'll have a debate on the Mark II verses the Mark VII varients.

My Marine background demands a vote for Hammerheads. But I like the X-Wings for their battered hugeness. Made me think of F-4 Phantoms, for some reason. Or P-47 Thunderbolts.

A reworked Eagle? PFFFT! Just yanking your chain. I loved Eagles. The modular design was probably one of most practical concepts that has ever been written into sci-fi. |

My Votes:

Bastardized Tie? I don't like "organic" looking spaceships. |

Those aren't fighters. They are ships. Start your own thread comparing the coolness of NCC-1701 vs Birds of Prey vs Warbirds vs Star Destroyers vs Calamari Cruisers. |
