idea

To set it up, 9Millie likes to sing karaoke. I've noticed that the process of singing starts with turning in a slip of paper with a name and song on it to the DJ. He then uses these papers to maintian his "rotation". When it is your turn to sing he brings you the mike (he has to find you first) and tells you how many people are ahead of you. He gets asked "when am I up?" a lot during the night.

so

what is needed is a cheap quick and dirty program that will generate a list of names and display them on a TV. this would save the DJ having to answer as many questions and hopefully having to go out into the crowd looking for the next singers.

luckily there are often lots of TVs in karaoke bars. Maybe a version of the prog could use a crawl at the bottom of the existing karaoke screen. the prog will display the rotation and optimally would display (with appropriate graphics) the "now playing" singer. that would add to the "glitz" factor as many of these karaoke freaks are wannabe rock stars.

follow me on this. the prog generates (after the names are manually entered) and displays a list of names and the list is interrupted (perhaps on a programmable schedule but at least by a default time) with Now Singing: Wannabe Rock Star surrounded by appropriate graphics.

so tell me how tough can it be and will it sell?

You lost me at the "I'm giving away a million dollars. I'm standing in line for the money but I have this sneaking suspiscion that no one is going to give me ANY amount of money if I try to sing. The entire Kareoke scene from "My Best Friend's Wedding" with Camereon Diez is too vivid and I'm not that cute!

Last time I looked the Karoke industry wasn't exactly a billion dollar buisness. I'm not sure you're going to revolutionize the karoke industry with this one.
