I've seen several AR's that have a red "fire" and white "safe" letters on the safety selector.....instead of the standard stamped letters with no color (black).
What's the best way to do that without getting paint all over my AR? Thanks |
They are called "China Markers", go to an Arts Supply store and ask for them.

I use Lacquer-sticks from Brownells.
It's spelled "Tactical". |

you sure? |

No, I think he got it right ....... |

Someone needs to buy a bunch of red and white crayons and have them repackaged as 'Swat Markers'. I bet some fools would pay $10 a set.

why are you guys being dicks about this. i wondered about this before too, although i am not going to go marking up my colts...
No, we're not being dicks about it. If anything, we are making fun of ourselves (at least I am!) I color the "Fire" and "Safe" on all of my AR's, and color in the lettering on my Glock pistols too. It is ÜBER TACTICÜL. In fact, it's the envy of mall ninja's EVERYWHERE!!! |

You will ALWAYS be made fun of if you are too stupid to use the SEARCH function. I'm not saying you art stupid, but if you can't search, well...
hes kinda new here only 44 posts perhaps he was unaware of the search option. im sure he knows about it now though.
nope, its Tack-Tickle |

Maybe we could say that paying members that don't know their member benefits are stupid. The person asking the question isn't a paying member and therefore doesn't have access to the SEARCH function. Don't be a DICK. |
Now that is FUNNY SHIT! |
I don't get it...I just do not get it. I guess I just don't understand why anyone would do this considering it does nothing to enhance the reliability, function or accuracy of the rifle. Conversely, it does nothing detrimental to the rifle.
Please understand I'm slamming anyone who does this. I used to have an HK-94. It had colored markings and I never gave it a second thought but I'd never consider coloring the markings on my AR. However, I would get an AR finished in camo and I don't go trouncing through the brush stalking my (silohuette) targets either. |

I think you had colored markings on your H&Ks because that is how they came or were supposed to be- not because you wish you had one like some people.
Sure it falls under the category of "It's your rifle, do what you want" but it also falls under other categories like Do you go to the range with your grandfather? Why are you coloring your rifle? That's what coloring books are for!!! |
If you need to look at the controls to use them, you need some TRAINING.
Now - it's your gun - break out the crayons and the pin striping! |
I think all you "purists" should realize this started with the .mil collectors coloring lettering on their 1903's and M1 Garands...
so |

Blaspheme!!! |

Get yourself some enamel paint pens from the hobby shop. One Red one White. Tape off the area surrounding the areas ya wanna paint. Carefully paint the F and S and use alcohol to remove the excesss paint b4 it dries. Worked on my Saigia.

I actually kind of like it if you only do the safe and fire and the red is not too bright. Its when you do the rest of the markings that I start to wonder WHY????

What if you're one of those kids that always colors outside the lines ? GM |
