Looks like they got rid of the pencil barrel.. good one. Also fun to see how flat dark earth looks different in every picture.

What is funny is that a large aftermarket parts company came sniffing around the FN booth looking for accesories to sell. Since it comes with sights, a sling mount, telestock, rail and other things that have to be added to the M4, they probably won't do as well on the aftermarket.
I like it in a function before fashion kinda way.
That's my way of saying it's ugly but I'm still buying one WIZZO |
Gotta love integrated cow bell.
Some day I hope to have an ARM-H. Thanks for the pics. |
I'm assuming the sling mounts CombatJack mentioned are on the other side of the rifle?
WIZZO |
+1 I really don't see all the hype for the Sig 55x or the HK 416, but I am damn sure getting a SCAR if they ever become available for the public...(and I don't have to give up my first born for one...) |
Really.......looks like a laced up child's boot or boots that the astronauts wear. At least FN put the charging handle on the correct side unlike SigArms. |
On the FN the charging handle works on either side.
The SCAR rifle was the best thing at the Shot Show. I love it. |
+1 That’s one “military style rifle” I wouldn’t mind having, minus the stock. |
Even with the Polymer lower????? I was dissapointed in that. They were also going to add a 4th position to the stock as it only has 3 now. The two best scars were at the AAC booth. REAL lowers, 3 digit serial numbers. 1 L and 1 H DMR, but short foreend on it. They were still such pre PRE production that if you looked closely at the cheek weld adapter you could see file marks from when they took it out of the mold |
How much $$$$$$$$ for that thing......The more I see it, the more I like it.
Is there any rhyme or reason behind the stock? It looks way too bulky and like there was material added just for the sake of it. I'm sure there is some weight to it, so could it be a balance thing? the last time I saw this rifle, I don't remember the stock being that freaking huge!
That is to have proper cheek height. They know what they are doing. What is not obvious from the photo is that area goes up and down. There is a button on the other side.
The truth is, the gas piston guns don't really LOOK cool in any way. Just an AR with some different, largely unseen mods (LW, POF, Colt, etc.). The SCAR truly looks different and is an attention grabber, beyond functional issues. One thing I'll say, the damn thing is really light. I was especially surprised at the weight of the 7.62 model...LIGHT. Given that, I can't imagine it won't be a monster in terms of recoil. I can't wait to shoot one someday. |

There is a sling mount that is visible in profile, just aft of the gas block. It looks like it takes HK style claw adapters. On the other side, right where the stock folds, there is a loop similar to the ones people run on an AR buffer tube. I would run a single point off of it. The stock is the most comfortable I've felt. The cheekpiece pivots off the rear to adjust for different sizes of optics. It may be ugly, but it works. |
God that thing is ugly on the back side. I can't stand the look of the stock it's abou the only thing on that gun I don't really like all that much. It's ugly but I guess they work pretty damn well so.....
Yep, its ugly. But its ugly like a pitbull. I am eager to get one, especially since it was developed by SOCOM. You have to figure that those guys know what to ask for in a rifle. |
Looks like it was really well thought out and FN listened to the end users when designing this thing.
The one thing I'd like to see on it are longer handguards. I'd like to see a railed handguard that's about 9-12" long on the SCAR... |
Far as aftermarket goes, first thing I see it needs is lower iron sights.
Everybody keeps knocking the polymer lower. Understand that the lower in this rifle, unlike the AR15, is unstressed. I believe it's even under less stress than a polymer pistol lower. So, if it saves weight, why not? But then we also have the "heavy is good, heavy is reliable" 1911 crowd here too I suppose. |
6.9 pounds for the L with the 14.5, 7.0 for the H with the 10.
Not bad. The only thing I would change would be lower sights (those things are like 4 inches over the bore ). |
1.5 MOA. |
held it at the show and realy tried to like it, but it is just not my thing. It just looks and feels half baked erganomics were terrable, the fs2000 was way nicer.
Also, I believe the reciprocating charging handle could prove to be a problem on the ol' fingers/hands if one isn't 100% on a foreward pistol grip. |
I am really looking forward to the civvy versions of the SCAR-L and SCAR-H. I'd be wearing a big-ass grin if these things are compatible with an S&H FNC sear
Hi RSilvers, Thanks for the great pic! Did you handle or have pic of the "H" version? Man, I am saving my money for the H version & hope the semi version will be available soon. Thanks again
The female FNH rep said that was one of the thing they were redesigning when i asked about that. |
Angling it up ~ 30- 45 deg. like on the Valmet, I presume? Or maybe make it a plunger handle, a la Izzy FAL? I've never been bitten by my AK's, but it could happen. |
That sir, is a good thing! A great rifle that doesnt have to be messed with, right out of the box! All you have to do is slap a red-dot on it with a light and purchase as many mags and ammo as you can. |
I agree. That is what is so remarkable about it. |
Darn, The whole thing is Fugly! I prefer the XM8 instead. I couldn't carry that thing in battle with a straight face. Just give me an M14 rifle and I'll take it from there.
OK...well something should be done about it. I'll tell you, the young dude I spoke with didn't know crap. Must of been a pistol guy filling in. |
I agree. It'll totally clash with your purse. |
Does it come in any other color but mustard yellow? Maybe something like black?
+1 A lot of Pros from a factory rifle, from a company that I Will support with my $$$$. |
WTF? It looks like that stock has a hinge on it... do dis ting fold?
Yes! |
WHy does everything that is suppost to be "replacing the M16" always end up LOOKING like an M16?
