Long story short, I dropped my mcx in water and it was fully submerged. I took the barrel out. Whats the best and most effective way to make sure I get all thh water off of it so it doesnt rust?

real answer, I wouldn't even take the barrel out. I'd lock the bolt back and prop the thing up somewhere warm and dry, barrel down. Maybe a hair dryer or heat gun if you're up for it, or blasting it through with compressed air could work too.
Fire off a few rounds and clean if it you're so inclined. A little water won't mess stuff up unless it's salt and you leave it there forever. |

FPNI. Seriously. Put the gun down and walk away.

Your painted rifle is ugly, but I’m uglier, so send it to me and I’ll make it look good!

If you are really worried about drying water off of something use common household alcohol. 91% isopropyl alcohol is excellent solvent for drying and if you are worried about water being in some tight area. I use it after washing out barrels when I shoot corrosive ammo after cleaning with hot water I come in with iso alcohol to dry then to finish it off use the air compressor to blow/dry away the alcohol and whatever water it has mixed with.

Oven, lowest temp for an hour.

Just let it dry. Lock the bolt to the rear if you’re super concerned about it.

Oven takes too long. Microwave. Make sure to dry the ammo, too.

Drive really fast and stick it out of the car window.

shoot 15 rounds.
Ambient + (15 x 7) will be the barrel temp. Option 2, don't worry about it. Really, you are over thinking this. swap barrel, some oil down, barrel. enjoy life. 18Z50 |

It's a total loss now, send it to me for disposal, I'll even cover shipping. |

Spray it with WD 40.
Wipe off. Done. WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th formula. |

This sort of thing is exactly what WD-40 was made for . . . This is true but WD40 makes a mess when compared to isopropyl alcohol. Both displace water well but one evaporates and dries away leaving nothing so I believe alcohol wins hands down. |

It’s science. |

I’d just do a normal cleaning. I’d be way more worried about the piston system than the barrel.

It's made for harsh conditions.
I'd just let it air dry and think nothing of it. |

A detail strip of the piston system is what you should be concentrating on. Wipe the barrel down inside and out with isopropyl alcohol. Let air dry. Strip the piston and clean the same way. |

I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

Don’t overthink it. Just detail strip it, clean and lube it.

All you have to do is let it dry out in the sun. The culprit of rust, I found though, is if you let water collect into something and let it sit there for a long duration without letting it be able to dry off. Seriously, I put my guns in the bathtub and use simple green hd to clean it sometimes. I would shake it off and wipe it off and clean it that way. A gun is no different than any other metal out there, perhaps even better because most of them come with some sort of rust inhibitor coat. |
