Not much experience with ar9's although I have a 6951.

Have a spare forged SBR'ed lower.  Plan to purchase H&R635 style upper.  Mean arms mags with the ejector.  Lower has a standard (not A5) receiver extension, which I will run an a5 buffer for 9mm for the extra length and also an ALG trigger.

Am I on the right path, any compatibility issues or things I should look out for?

Blowback 9, so you will want some weight.  What does the bolt assy weigh?

Haven't ordered it yet.  But I have a variety and will run suppressed as well.

FWIW, there tends to be a "sweet spot" of 22 - 24 ounces combined buffer/bolt weight with typical blowback 9's

Just something to consider.

Thank you, that is a wealth of knowledge.  Still digging through, but haven't seen anything so far that indicates the parts won't work togeather so I might click the buy button.

When using an a5 buffer in a carbine tube for 9mm do I use a rifle length spring or a carbine length one?

A carbine length one.
