Red hands down.
Over the years the red reticle has been the hands down favorite among the many repeat students or new shooters I have trained to use the Acog. In the end it is your choice. You need to use both models to see which is better for you. |

I agree. Red gives you the best contrast between the reticle and whatever it is you will likely see. The amber tends to blend in with its surroundings a little more, making it harder to see.

Red. Brighter and red contrasts more with natural environment. Amber can wash out a little more.

I like amber. It's brighter. Everyone's eyes are a little different, try before you buy.

That depends on who's eyes are looking through it, and the backgrounds you would most likely be shooting the most in.
Try them both and then decide; Don't buy based on other's opinions here. That's like asking, "What size pants do you wear?" and then buying the size that was the most popular answer. |

I agree about the backgrounds especially. Here in AZ, everything is brown, so the red stands out a lot better. In a greener environment, the amber might be a little better than it is here, but I think red gives you a lot more versatility. |

Red,
And then use tape or a bike innertube to cover up the fiber optics when you need a more precise aiming point. |

I like the red! But the amber is not bad in the ACOGS.
