From Matt:

Pooby,
Thanks for posting, I appreciate it very much.

Let me get the pistol grip finalized, as well as making sure the HGs
and butt
are totally dialed in before I address the group buy issue.

I will set prices shortly.

I will offer std. black Walnut, maybe Maple, and definitely Claro,
fancy California
Walnut. No laminates yet, as I would have to order it from the east
coast, but it may
be an option in the near future.

We'll talk over the next week or so.

For me when I think Nam era M-16 . I picture an A-1 with triangle hand
guards twenty round mags and a 3 prong flash hider .

The wood isn't a bad look , it's just kinda odd to me , but then again
it might not be so bad if I could get a wooden Glock to go along with it

Turning some handles for the M9 bayonet wouldn't be all that difficult.....

OK, here's the grip pics.

Kudo's to Matt for making this happen, you're a stand up guy.

Now you have to start making M1 stocks because I wont buy anything from those other guys.

Man how much do you think that thing'll weigh?

I have a set of the Springfield Armory wood and its really not heavy at all. Seriously Aimless, this stuff is only a few ounces heavier that than A1 furniture.
I'm gonna be real busy tomorrow, but if you remind me I'll get the stuff weighed next week.

Matt from Ironwood here,
If someone has a set of the Bayonet grips that I could borrow for a couple of weeks, I could probably produce some after the inital AR run is completed.

Regarding weight, Pooby is correct, they might weigh a few ounces more than the Plastic set. Weight shouldn't be a concern.

Thanks,
Matt

Da- Bunny mentioned that matching wood handles for the M9 bayonet would be nice.

Oh just fucking great! Now I'll have to buy an $80 bayonet to put them on....unless you make a set for the M7 bayo.

IMHO the M-7 would be the way to go for a bayonet.
Cheaper for everyone to buy an M-7 and wood grips on my Phrobis might look

And an M7 is more "appropriate" for an M16A1 clone....er, of course wood furniture means that it isn't really an M16A1, but you get what I mean, right?

What they said. I'll shoot an e-mail to Matt.

If bayo grips are made what would you prefer? M7 or M9?

I prefer M7.

WOW that looks great! I bet those hand guards were a bitch to make.
I'd be in on the deal once the price is announced.

I vote M7 bayo grip.

Awesome, maybe sometime in the future you'll make other styles? I'd fork out $200-$350 for an decent dragunov style(sniper rifle obsession..), but right now im stuck with the thumbhole from JP-rifles. Not that im complaining though. Great work!

I got embarrassed on the only two group buys I tried.

The guy with the SOCOM receivers sold them out from under me even after I gave him...never mind. Boyd's gave me the run around on these stocks.

Matt Shuster is the man!!!
