This Thread is to show off your builds using MEGA Receivers (Lower as well as Uppers), and share information regarding and relating to them. Please keep it on topic.

General Info on MEGA: Mega Machine Shop Inc., makers of MEGA Upper and Lower Receivers is generally a creater of parts and tools for the Aerospace industry.... Additionally they make upper and lower receivers, and recently high quality trigger assemblies for the firearm industry, as well as some other various parts. MMS is currently based out of Tumwater Washington.

MMS is generally regarded as a high quality manufacturer of AR receivers. MMS uses 7076 T6 Forged aluminum for their receivers, and they are coated in what is believed to be one of the best finishes for "Out the box" AR receivers.

MMS makes, or has made receivers for SEVERAL other manufacturers of AR accessories, and have been doing so for years.

At this time, there has been a pause in the production of Mega receivers. As far as I know, all known retailers of them are sold out.

I used MEGA Matched upper and lower receivers for my first build, pictured and itemized below. I chose MEGA for their fit and finish. I am very happy with my first AR and have no regrets using MEGA whatsoever.

Here's mine, Mega lower, balance of parts are a Model 1 Sales kit. The Mega lower is a bit "blacker" than the M1S upper, which has almost a matte finish- no shine at all.

Here's a pic of my first build that I just finished yesterday. Shot it this AM and it is very smooth!!! I shot some 3 shot "clovers" at 50 yards which suprised me since all I had was 55gr ammo. The barrel is 1/7 so I didn't expect greatness with 55gr. Didn't have time to shoot at 100 so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what this thing is really capable of.

I noticed no one has yet posted a picture of a MEGA lower with a TangoDown BattleGrip installed. I have two MEGA lowers w consecutive serial nos (06xx), and the Battle Grip will not fit on either of them without hanging down just a hair too low such that an unsightly gap is created.

Has anyone here successfully installed a TD Battlegrip on a MEGA lower? Best I can tell is that the grip tang on the MEGA lowers are just the tiniest bit oversized, which doesn't cause problems with any other grip but the Battle Grip.

I would very much appreciate that. I have posted the following photos a couple of other times, with nary a response from anyone

After investigation with silly putty and rulers (I need to invest in a good set of calipers, yes), and with the ol' eyeballs, I really think the grip tang is a hair oversized in combination with the fact that the grip area radius-cut is not quite large enough. The problem manifests itself with my Hogue grip as well, but not noticeably, as only the TD BattleGrip has the piece that extends forward as a "gapper" toward the trigger-guard area.

And, since this is an image thread:

edited to add: Stickman, if you could put some Battle Grips on your MEGA lowers and see if it looks similarly or not, I would be much obliged.

Has anybody here tried the Mega lower with the Magpul MIAD... i like them cause they resemble the grips found on HK rifles... and im all about some HK :-) Was wondering about fitment issued there also?

Tango Down fits like that on all of the MEGAs I've ever tried. I don't know if I would blame it all on MEGA. You get that same gap when you try to install a TD on a Bushmaster Lower.

I have a Mega lower on the way. Has anyone used with a CMT upper? How is the color and fitment? Pics? Does Mega make an M4 cut upper? Thanks!!!

No M4 cut upper yet and who knows when or if they will come out. I can't even get regular produced stuff anymore.

Mega uses a Teflon finish so it will be shinier than the CMT upper. If I was building on a CMT upper, I would want a STAG lower or RRA lower.

Not too worried about the color match...more curious if there have been any issues with fitment, but have gotten the impression it's no big deal. They are both top shelf items. I spoke with Mega on Mon. and they said they haven't produced any Mega receivers in several months and didn't expect to for another 6-8 weeks.

Mega made a massive mistake by not doing large amounts of receivers during the Boeing strike. I understand that Boeing is their cashcow, but when they had no work to do, they could have caught up on AR items and actaully been of use to their dealers.

Mega would appear to have a long way to go in figuring out this market. Either that, or we have along way to go with figuring out theirs....
