Why is it that we still don't have a projected weight yet?

I am interested, but I want to see a modeled weight before committing. Thanks, I have long wondered why no body has done this.

are there any places for a built magnesium pistol lowers i dont know how to register/build a lower to a pistol but im looking at an ultra lightweight setup and this sounds perfect for that ti and carbon fiber everywhere
|
|

In my sig there is a link to the PWD, which is dedicated to serving the weight conscious AR builder. If you're looking to build an ultra light AR, that's a good place to research the latest in light weight parts.

Will there be a gas block included?
I just got a 14.5 pencil with pinned GB included. Would be interested if so. |

No, because everyone wants to run different GBs. Some need adjustability, some don't want to pay the extra $ for it or Ti because they don't want those features. If you don't like dimpling bbls yourself, why not just buy a nice clamp on GB? NIT/master of arms makes one of the nicest GBs on the market. If you can turn a screw, you can install it.

Vltor conducted tests with different gas blocks. With the clamp on they ruined the barrel before the gas block moved.
Regardless, it will be dimpled. |

No matter how many tests are done, or different styles designed, some people just refuse to accept clamp on GBs. I was just throwing it out there as an option for people that don't want to dimple or pin their own bbl.

Fact about Faxon Barrels:
Me and a buddy were talking about Faxon as neither of us had ever had any first hand knowledge of them or knew anyone that had. I said to him, I'll be the guine pig and ordered one and built a 10.5" SBR upper. I have to say that I am glad to be the guine pig as this barrel will hit silhouette steel plates at 300 yards with a T-2 and no magnifaction suppressed. True story! Faxon makes really nice barrels. |
|
|
Hells yes. I've got their 20" heavy fluted and my dad has their 18" heavy fluted. For my light weight SBR build I've got their lw bcg, and will get the 10.3 pencil. I'll prolly build a precision 18" AR at some point using one of their uppers / barrels as well. They make good stuff, their prices are very competitive, they have a mil discount, AND they still take time to communicate on the forums. Pretty much winning all around.

it's aggravating that forum rules (here and elsewhere) regarding cross-posting etc. are really the only reason we haven't already got this done. You can't tell me that if this was a 'sticky' on the most-visited parts of arfcom and m4carbine etc that we wouldn't have hit 50 a long time ago. Like I said before, if we get close, I am willing to buy 2 to help 'get us there'. I have no plans for a second pencil bbl, I'd prolly just sell it, but I'd do it to get the group buy through.

So close I can taste it. My ultralight SBR build has been sitting in pieces for months....all I need is this bbl and I can finally move forward with it! Once it's done, then I'm just waiting on Magpul for my "heavy" SBR build project...

still not sure why we are going 1:7...when all bullets that'll fit in an AR mag are stabilized by 1:8 just fine, including the super heavies like 77gr and light 55s (which are prolly shot by a lot more people), and that's Faxon's standard twist.
