totally sweet!!!!!
saved those babies to hard drive. thanks for the rpk and air pics!!! and the romy launcher. the triangle may have to do with which of the three arsenals assembled the rifle...and i've also heard guys say that the triangle stamps were inspection/acceptance proofs. my sar2 has a triangle 416 (iirc) stamped faintly on the left side of the receiver tin. |
Awesome pictures! Thanks a bunch!
I've never seen the carry handle. Nice pics as always....thanks!
take care, Tec |
I may be wrong, but I think that RPKS-74 is sort of a missing link of sorts... in so far as that it's existance has only been speculated on as far as I know. People assumed they made one, but no pics ever show up... makes it very interesting to see.

Added pics from DDR, Hungary, and Poland.

Awesome pics!!!! Damn they would all look good in my safe. Thanks for posting them.

My PMKMS kit I bought from Centerfire Systems was made before the rifle in the pic.
My front trunnion is dated 1977 and my handguards are dark in color and laminated like the rifle in the above pic. |
Wow, you sure did. Thanks again! (I'm on cable so the pics ain't a problem for me... But I assume this ain't dial-up friendly) Sly |

interesting Stottman, is the AIR yours ? I was also able to get a hold of one recently. SN is very close too. I've been looking for some documents on it. Is that east german or russian or ?
Thanks i'll post pics of mine later |
The AIR is mine, a deactivated weapon that I picked up not too long ago.
This one came from Austria (via InterOrdnance). They sell them in Germany also, though the deact specs are a little harsher. They are Romanian. Very similar in size to the E.German, and very different from the Russian AKSU-74. The Bulgarian AKSU74 is a copy of the Russian design. |
funny, i'm pretty sure i bought it from the same guy than u, he had maybe 50 in stock..all built in 2004. deactivated too (barrel/ bolt). very nice piece. |
Maybe. I found it on some German auction site, and got it for allot cheaper then what they sell for in Germany. Think the guys last name was Turk or something like that. I take it you are located in Europe? |
yep, traveling a lot though. do u have the url for that german site ? thanks. u can pm me |

There is a Russian RPKS-74 with a laminated wood folding stock pictured on pg 123 of "Kalashnikov: the Arms and the Man"... unless you're referring specifically to Romanian RPKS-74's. Nathan Brown USMC 1/6 SSP Camp Lejeune, NC |

One hell of a museum. Where in Europe is it located?
Unless noted, the pics were taken in the basement of the Military history museum in Brussels Belguim. Its not open to the public. Inside the large gym sized bunker, they have everything from Browning's prototypes (from FN) to AKs, FG-42s, to MP-44s with the 1945 capture tags still on them.
Were there any Chinese T-56-1's with fixed stocks?....
Being a new guy in here I dont know anyone, but I cna say that I know about that Museum. Its a great place to study military history and see some really cool shit. I missed it last time I was in Europe...
Nope, this was most of their collection. |
How come all of the guns in the first pictures were so beat up? Couldn't the musuem or whatever take care of the weapons and keep them from rusting?
Allot of them are battleifield pickups, they didnt start as new. |
I will take any one of them great photos.
I've love to have that 40mm.

Its easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission......
those were some great pictures Stottman thanks!
That has to be the most impressive and definitive collection of AK photos I've seen.
Seriously, thanks for sharing that. |
