This has been submitted to some forums already but I think these are such interesting and rare pictures that post here for larger public is also justified.
Background is that I've been doing some high speed photography on pistols and rifles to investigate bullet behavior and high pressure gas formation at the split second moment bullet leaves barrel. Here is the start and plan is to make much more if equipment prevails tests (it's going through a bit more stress than builders may have anticipated ) Two images of .22LR Benelli MP90 http://kuulapaa.com/onewebmedia/Benelli%20high%20speed%20sideways%201%20small_1.jpg http://kuulapaa.com/onewebmedia/Benelli%20high%20speed%20sideways%202%20small_2.jpg Two more with 9mm STI Edge http://kuulapaa.com/onewebmedia/High%20speed%20bullet%20STI%201.jpg http://kuulapaa.com/onewebmedia/High%20speed%20bullet%20STI%202.jpg I rather not fill this thread with huge amount of big pics taken so far but If you like to see more high speed stuff in high resolution then this is your site: http://kuulapaa.com/home/highspeed.html Hope you enjoy them -Kuulapaa |

Small bullet but sweet looking blast:
http://kuulapaa.com/onewebmedia/FN_4_800_2.jpg This small lead bullet makes good seal for powder and lets it burn without spaying it shot gun like what happens with 9mm. These are pictures of my friend's pistol. Old Browning Target model but manufactured under license by Belgium FN. I can say it's really good gun to shoot with. Not a real competition pistol but a good gun. He asked me to take some pics of it and make them look good. Couple more of same set: http://kuulapaa.com/home/highspeed.html |

Back in business. I try to keep pistols and rifles in their respective threads so this comes here although some of the stuff coming soon could be more justified better in rifle category by their hit energy
Let's start easily. Here is one picture of my 9mm Beretta 92FS Brigadier. http://kuulapaa.com/data/WS_Beretta_1200.jpg This is what you can expect: http://kuulapaa.com/data/WS_Big%20bore_1200.jpg Some background information of our plans: Herra Kuulapaa |

What kind of camera are you using? I do a lot of work with HS video in this realm, and it's pretty cool.

What is the shutter speed on these shots? pretty sure there is no shutter. It's probably fired in the dark with a strobe That makes sense |
|
There is no shutter speed in conventional sense because exposure is made by very short burst of light. Idea is same with basic camera flash but much faster and shorter.
We could calculate shutter speed to be around 1/1.000.000 sec. |

9mm Magtech and unburned powder residue in two waves:

I'd estimate cost of the full setup around 6000$ (without cost of work hours and this is with preused equipment). It's mainly all about interfaces between gun, camera and flash. Individually they'd be quite easy to get work but getting all of them play in sync is a bit more difficult. During last 4 months I've spent nearly 700$ in repairs because of muzzle blast damage and other failures (not including work hours once again) so it's getting damn expensive but can't stop now
I once told my wife that cost was 800$ and she freaked so same rules applies in this too Yep, bought new STI pistol, how much?, no, not much, 350$ |

I've sold couple of pictures to friends and one magazine in UK bought picture rights to paper magazine but it's really small money and nothing major.
There's a humble idea behind this to provide nice pictures to fellow shooters. And next one is BIG, a hint: There's no pussy here, just a dose that'll make you wish you were born a woman. Like a prick, you are having second thoughts. You are shrinking, and your two little balls are shrinking with you. And the fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your guns.
... And the fact that I've got Desert Eagle point five O... View Quote Stay tuned |

My wife thinks you photoshopped the bullet in, cause she thinks a camera cant capture something going that fast.

Laser is ok but it leaves line in picture. I trust on mechanics..
Anyway this is what is ready to come: http://kuulapaa.com/data/500SW_1000.jpg Ps. I setup picture print service for US on Kuulapaa site. |

Id be very interested in some more suppressor shots.
Im not sure the legality of them where you are from, but I see there is a few pics of a suppressed weapon in your weblink |
|
Suppressors are ok in Finland. I have couple suppressed AR's; .22lr, .223Rem and 7.62x39. If I only got more time to photograph them.. Problem is that I need to drive long to get proper place for rifle photography.
Handguns are easier. I need to write up story for the .500S&W before I can publish pics but they're coming. Meanwhile a failed shot but impressive flames nevertheless: http://kuulapaa.com/data/WS_45_1000_II.jpg |
