The "Large Button" forward assist was introduced as a replacement for the teardrop when the A2 rifle was being rolled out. While it had no fitment issues with A1 lowers, the large size was a problem for the A2 lower as it had a reinforced buffer tower. As a result they would get the left portion shaved down creating a "D" shape. This one is still intact and is ready for modification or use in A1 profile lowers. There are 4 different button face designs, and from some research the solid dot in the center was how Colt did them.
