I have a WBP Mini Jack that I just ordered and am having a side folder conversion done to it. In the meantime, and especially with the elections coming up where who the heck knows what's going to happen, I want to start loading up on mags I had an SLR-106 years ago and used Bulgy Circle 10's with it, but outside of that I do not have much experience with 556 AK's and what magazines are compatible with what. Especially with which ones play nicest with the Mini Jack. I already ordered 5 of the AC Unity AK556 mags with the series of small windows and angled cut on the bottom/back of the mag, so hopefully those are good to go. But any insight anyone can give is greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Any of the AC-Unity 5.56 mags should be fine. It sounds like you got the latest generation AK-19 style ones. I think those the most visually appealing version they have, they don’t have the BHO that most of the other ACU AK mags have but that’s been a divisive feature. Arsenal obviously great but they’ve priced themselves out of the market in my opinion; they’re good but not $50 good. Palmetto has a decent US-made magazine though they are out of stock now with the launch of their .300 BLK AKSU last week. ETA - the WBP Jack series are Polish-spec for the most part, so that leads towards compatibility between Polish/Bulgarian/Russian 5.56 AK magazines. The only other major standard commercial available right now is Yugo with Zastava’s M90; however, while their mil-spec steel mags are only compatible with it, they have a commercial polymer magazine that is cross-compatible. The ACU mags were designed primarily for the Polish/Bulgarian/Russian standard but are also cross-compatible with Yugo guns. I’m excluding the Romanian, Chinese, Finnish Valmet, and Israeli Galil 5.56 standards since while they “exist” they aren’t really something you’re going to go buy on Bud’s Gun Shop anymore.  None of those are compatible with anything other than their OEM magazine type.
